It is, incredibly, race week yet again. So tiring, yet we press on. Speaking of tiring, anyone see the press conference where they asked Lewis about maybe making it to 400 races? It produced this excellent face from Lewis:

vVVN9kCl.jpg

Max also not looking thrilled at the prospect of eternal Lewis. Anyway, onwards to the track:

WDC Standings

Here is how the driver head kebab is looking:

When does everyone stop pretending anyone other than Max will win, I wonder.

When is it on?

Reminder to cancel your expensive TV subscriptions for the summer break, it's a 4 week break after this one!

Last opportunity for Charles Leclerc to avoid having a completely depressing summer holiday.

I don't think anything will outdo the madness we saw last year so no need to raise expectations on that score. Nothing beats this iconic race start, right?

Which team(s) should Hungary suit?

I’d forgotten the madness of last year and even though I watched it, I still can’t really remember how Ocon ended up winning.

It was all because of Alonso's defending from Lewis. Nothing else. Just Fernando.

Ooooooh yes. I remember now the Olympic level photobombing afterwards in Ocon’s winning moments to underline all that. Fernando is the absolute best.

Pérez is just 7 points shy of Leclerc. Another DNF for Charles and there's a good chance it will be Red Bull 1-2 in the WDC. Something I assume has not happened since Bra-2013  :)

1. Goulash

2. Is it a weird picture, or is Lewis wearing plastic or chiffon pants?

It happened this year already, after Baku.

Edit: and lasted a while, Leclerc only took 2nd back in the championship after Austria, 4 races later.

One thing not mentioned yet......weather.

Friday looks hot and dry (which before 2006 was pretty standard)

Saturday cooler and a pretty decent chance of a wet quali

Sunday warmer again, likely dry but still a risk of rain (albeit less likely than on Saturday)

The rain should neutralize any sort of Ferrari advantage, just like Monaco!

@fergieweather

#F1 #BBCF1 #HUNGARIANGP OUTLOOK: Hot & dry on Fri, but a very different story for Sat as outbreaks of showery rain - some heavy & thundery - spread east. There's potential for this to be disruptive where it occurs: forecast detail still tricky. Race likely dry & noticeably breezy

If Fergie delivers, she will be my new favorite Saturday weather for forecaster for the Hungarian F1 Grand Prix.

I am not a big fan of random qualy sessions on a track hard to overtake.

Might as well watch the lottery if I am looking for that excitement

Therefore qualy is MAG-BOT-MSC, followed by a 17-car pileup behind them on Sunday.  I need to find a William Hill.

I will not buy this record, it is scratched!

I like this circuit even though the racing action hasn't always been good.  I'm really curious to see if the new cars can liven up this race, and at what unexpected turns we might see some overtakes on Sunday

Will we see some legendary overtaking at this circuit into turn one this year?

Lewis making it to 400 races? It's just a little more than 4 years.

Since they add races to the calendar, that will be one of the easier records to break in future.

How many full seasons a driver has done is probably a more indicative measurement.

Weather has been really rapsodic this week, we had everything from 35C scorching heat to strong winds & overcats, summer showers and thunderstorms. I wouldn't put too much faith in the forecasts at this point, though Saturday indeed seems to have the highest chance for rain.

#F1 #BBCF1 #HUNGARIANGP 🇭🇺 THURS: FIA's initial forecast guidance via MeteoFrance assesses rain risk as: FP1/FP2 dry; FP3 80%; Q >80%; Race 20%. Latest model output reinforces high chance of heavy, thundery rain at times Sat, with *potential* implications for F3, WSeries, F2 & F1

The one racetrack that has positively surprised me in recent years to produce some good racing. This opposed to the general opinion on this track.

Looking forward to a crazy weekend and a surprise winner, as has happened before with Ocon, Button and Alonso.

Yeah same here, not sure how, but it's managed to weasel itself into my affections. 2014 must be up there for me as an all time favourite, y'know back when Dan was good.

That restart was one of the best things I’ve ever seen in F1.

Did any rules get changed in the aftermath of it?  Did anyone ever answer the question about what would have happened if Hamilton had come into the pits like everyone else and the stipulation that "cars starting from the pitlane must wait for the cars on the grid to clear" had applied?
