Yesterday, this happened in qualifying:

First F1 pole position for George Russell. Power issues for Verstappen and DRS issues for Hamilton but still -  exciting!

Rest of the grid lines up like this:

Weather

#F1 #BBCF1 #HUNGARIANGP SUNDAY 1/2: It's been an on-&-off wet morning at Hungaroring, where ~7mm of rain has fallen since 6am (now 9am local). As some forecast models indicated, clearance of low pressure has been slow. Consequently, uncertainty for conditions by race start >>
2/2: The expectation at present is for a continued risk of further rain at times through rest of the morning. It's likely conditions will have improved by race start, but certainly not guaranteed. FIA forecast refined to cite a 60% risk of rain between 12pm-2pm; 40% by race start

Hopefully a topsy turvy race in store. Rain will not suit Russell especially getting those tyres up to temperature.

Forecast definitely shows things to be more uncertain now, and light drizzle are now predicted for the race.

I’d love to see a Russell win but I fear he’ll fluff the start.

Yeah, his starts and first laps really aren't that great. I can see Leclerc actually leading on the first lap.

call me cynical but I'm hoping that there's a crash at the 1st bend involving 7th to 12th place cars

Track currently very damp for F3, classed as a wet race.

Probably totally dry by the time F1 starts later.

Because who likes to see some cars overtaking, right?

The insecurity caused by Georges qualifying performance amongst some here is really very amusing.

Hope he wins, buts it’s a tall order. Ferrari are quick and can focus on passing him early while the Red Bulls come through the field.

Also Norris, hoping for a good race there too. Overshadowed by George yesterday but Lando is doing an incredible job at McLaren.

Hoping for a good race.

Russell winning would probably take one of the all-time great drives. Hamilton's DRS failure is a double headache as he's strategically a bit isolated up there.

I suspect a max masterclass today but really should be a Ferrari win today.

Tyre choice will be interesting. Presumably the Hards will be even more useless in the cooler temps, but who knows with Pirelli.

Russell openly said yesterday it's at least a two stop. S-M-M I suspect.

Excited to see what Lewis and Max can do today. Could they be racing for a podium if one of the front four hit trouble?

Don't even dare make a prediction, other than there will probably be lots of excitement and drama.

Who do I want to win? Russell.

Who do I think will win? No idea.

I'm hoping for rain and a classic Lewis vs Max battle for the win .

Edit;

If it is a dry race I hope George will get his maiden win .

Idly watching F3, we notice for the first time it looks like a bunch of houses might just (over some trees) be able to see the track from their living room. How cool. Don’t know how I’ve never noticed it before.

Different camera angles. It can be the reason.

Surely Hamilton can fix his DRS though? I think Hamilton will be right up there.

Similar to Imola if that’s the case.

Hoping for a Russell, Leclerc, Sainz podium. With some epic fights as Verstappen tries to clear Hamilton and Alonso moving up the field. Expect he will eventually and finishes 5th behind Norris.

I see they are telling drivers in the cool down room after the F3 race not to swear. Is that new? Might hold for F1 later so that sound doesn’t need to be muted?

They can have their classic battle for 5th place. George, Lando and the Ferraris can have a battle ahead of them.

This radar on the other hand shows a lot of rain coming:

But it's vanishing within the first 30mins of the race

F2 sky looks potentially menacing.

Really hope its slightly wet, enough to race but not so much for fun police safety car parade.

I reckon Alonso is going into turn 1 at least P3 or more.

www.wetteronline.de which I always use and find quite reliable:

Ah forgot that can't upload pics here. Anyway: The "WetterRadar" player shows spots of rain in the area all the time and still at the race start:

Quite a bit of tyre wear in the F2 race. Wonder if F1 will see the same effect, or if it's just the green track for F2.

You are allowed to make repairs using similar components aren’t you? As long as the engine is the same then it should be allowed.

They can swap them for previously used units.

I thought you can use a new engine on the basis the one used for qual has an issue and he’s still within his allotment?

I thought it had to be a used one, but you could be right. Exchanging an old for new unit would seem to give an advantage though.

Edit: Just checked and your right, they can take a brand new one penalty free.

I don't think Russell can hold off the ferarris at the start. I'm thinking Leclerc to be leading after 3-5 laps, but it  would be great if Russell can make the podium.

Will Ferrari mess anything up today? History says yes, so there might another spot on the podium but I don't think Max can get P3

The background looks surreal in the distance during Ted's paddock walk. Looks like the truman show and its painted on.
