He accepted it, and looked for another team 🤷🏻

Also, I don't think AM is that far from Alpine. Sometimes they're really close, mostly on Sundays. Obviously, next year the can he much further, of course, but I wouldn't say it's impossible for them to be at Alpine level, even in front

AM made a huge step forward in the past races, they seem to have a good car with a small sweet Spot, but there seems to be a lot of potential and it wouldnt surprise me if they are in front of Alpine next season

They did try to sign him, but only for one year (at a time).

Yes, and therefore they didn't sign him. My question was why they didn't sign him, i.e., offering conditions that he would sign.

My previous post is not to disregard hard works and belief of Alpine F1 team and its staff. I just think that Aston has good chance of stretching its legs, and it is acting to have to possible.

And yes, Aston will be a serious threat, hoping that it will challenge Red Bull.

It has to sort out the PU for new gen tho.

One year and counting ...

Definitely quite interesting reading some of the comments from before  :D

No matter how the 2024 season turns out, the move to Aston Martin has definitely paid off. It was truly wonderful to see Alonso fighting for podiums whenever he had the car last year.

I don’t think even the most optimistic amongst us would have imagined the 8 podiums in 2023 back in Aug’22.

My thoughts precisely.

Alpine were looking to put Fernando in sportscars for 2024, so even getting to race in F1 for Aston Martin beats what Alpine had in mind.
