Rossi and Otmar deserve every bit of blowback.

Come on man

So indeed we have Palou Mk.2 on our hands.
I don’t understand this at all. It’s just too weird that two separate teams in two separate series would both do the same thing and announce a driver who then immediately denies the announcement. The McLaren connection is there of course, but how are they getting it so wrong.
Something stinks here.

If this is Zak Brown again, he's doing a madness.

Woooow.

Zak Brown is the Littlefinger of the F1 universe.

Interestingly he unequivocally says he will not be driving for Alpine next year, as opposed to something like "I have not signed a contract for Alpine yet". That can only mean he's headed to Mclaren or somewhere else outside of F1. I wonder if this episode will mean Alpine lose Piastri for good.

Alpine in panic!
Posted 02 August 2022 - 18:08
So, McLaren got... 7 drivers and 7 seats? Problem is that 2 of those seats are in Formula E and none of the 7 drivers wants to drive there.
Posted 02 August 2022 - 18:09
Oh Alpine...

I mean, it is a risky move by Piastri/Webber: there is a possibility - even if it can be small - of ruining his career.

Poor old Danny Ric, must be constantly refreshing twitter.

Second massive WTF moment in two days. Crazy stuff!
Sounds like Mclaren might have at least four F1 drivers under contractr for next year

He's making a mistake imo.

Lost in all of this is that Danny Ric is at this moment likely without a drive for 2023. Yes he can join Alpine but will he end up there? Remains to be seen

I bet right now there’s a saturnine Spaniard sitting on a Greek beach, refreshing twitter and laughing his ass off at all the chaos in his wake.

When I saw the tweet I thought it had to be someone trying to be a bit clever with Palou’s tweet…but it seems genuine, crazy!

As Alonso would say:
"KARMA!"

Alonso tweeted a picture of him at his go-kart track in Spain.
Otmar wrong once again.

Dan might do ok out of this if he goes to Alpine, but yeah not a great way to find out.
Posted 02 August 2022 - 18:17
Piastri better have a 3 year plus ironclad contract from McLaren otherwise he has been advised badly,

Thing for Ricciardo is, if he puts the emotion of being dumped out of it, it’s probably a better career move than getting absolutely trousered by Lando for another year.
No reason why next years Alpine won’t be a match for Mclaren.
Posted 02 August 2022 - 18:18
I foresee an upcoming contract recognition board meeting!
Posted 02 August 2022 - 18:18
He ditched them already to go to mclaren…. You think they want him back?
Well, if he does end up at Alpine he'll have been their 3rd choice for the seat (at best).

I'm 100 % convinced he did this on purpose. Alonso retur to F1 is basically one big troll fest anyway
