Today at 15.00BST Williams will announce.. well.. something. Link.

There are threads on Piastri and the Silly Season which are being used at the moment to discuss this matter. Yet the announcement that is being made, is quite substantial as team members are summoned to attend a pre-press announcement at the factory. Link.

Considering this is the case, it is safe to assume this is not a driver announcement. Hence I thought it would be worth of an own thread and having the possibility to keep the discussion central in this thread instead of in two others.

@ForumHosts/Admins; If you would be so kind to move said posts of the other threads here, that would be awesome. Or if you want to close this thread and to keep it in the Silly Season one, thats up to you   ;)

This is either a huge let down, like a new sponsor or something, or a massive announcement like they have been sold for example.

VW - VolksWilliams. *Just kidding*

We're 3 days on summer break. Each day holds another story.

This is going to be a sponsor announcement but they've harnessed all the drama from the past few days to get maximum exposure for it. Smart

If so, then its a fantastic strategy. But to summon all the team to attend a sponsor announcement, that simply does not sit right with me.

That is an interesting thought. And not a bad move in my opinion.

I doubt it. The last few days have been a catastrophe for Renault. They need some positive news, and fast.

McLaren have bought Williams and will loan them Piastri for 2023 😁

Do teams usually summon staff for a sponsor announcement? Seems like it would be something quite substantial if that was the case but who knows

AUDI?

If Audi gets into Formula One, they will do it on their terms and via an announcement from their side.

Could be, and if the rumour that Alpine were able to offer Piastri a drive from Silverstone this year was true, that makes more sense if they have been in talks for a while.

It would make sense that they were sold. Dorlinton is an investment company, they usually buy and sell in a couple of years.

And as part of the deal, Albon and Latifi will now race under the names "Fernando Alonso" and "Oscar Piastri".

I would agree if Dorilton wasnt a, strange, company that tends to hold on to their investments. Their portfolio exists largely out of companies that are already in it for a long time. Plus, I cant see Dorilton bowing out because they are creating more and more exposure by simply staying on the brandwagon of F1 which is expanding rapidly. This alone is priceless I would assume.

This.

Meaning the team is now then sold to Andretti? Make sense tho...

I really, really hope they've snatched the Porsche deal from under Red Bull's noses, as I don't want to drive a car associated with Red Bull!

Watch this end up being some massive anti-climax, like "just" a new engine supplier or something.

Yeah ! I too think inviting employees mean a major announcement like selling of the team.

A new engine supplier would be substantial news. Certainly since Williams has been with Mercedes for 9 years.

Yup, I am prepared for it.

Recent ride on Alpine made me somewhat exposed to the excitement too much...

It would be hilarious if they're jumping on today's hype train to get more attention for the announcement of their official haircare partner for 2023...

It's going to take a while to get used to calling the team Rich Energy Storey Racing.

If they're announcing Piastri at the same time then they've already fallen out with their star driver!

Maybe, but not sure it's quite as exciting as some people are hoping, though.

Andretti. Piastri. Palou. Mclaren tie up.

Possibly Renault engines after current Merc deal ends (didn't they say it was until 2025?).

Latifi out. Albon to replace Tsunoda.

That might be the case indeed. But to me, a return to Renault would be a substantial deal. One of which I think could be a good thing for Williams. Their last win was with a Renault engine none the less  :p

Based on the comments, this is a parody account.

I have no idea when BST is compared to EDT but I'm assuming the announcement is in 5 minutes.
