It seems insane to consider holding it September when there are many other things going on.  Especially a week after the Revival where many of your potential attendees and most of your exhibitors will have been present.  There's a reason why all the indoor car shows are out of season.  The most important thing they need to deal with is the cost of attendance.  Maybe they should be talking to the organisers of the Classic Car Show and seeing if they can add on to that.

Indeed. I thought that Race Retro in February would be a good fit given that they're aiming for the same sort of target audience, but that has its own problems as we've seen.

I'd prefer a stand alone event, perhaps in the day or two before a big historic meeting .Perhaps Silverstone (which has decent conference space) , but  Donington, Brooklands or Oulton would be fine. Or maybe a left field choice like  IWM at Duxford ? Not Goodwoood as the cost of accommodation at that time would be ruinous and any Goodwood meeting already has an embarrassment of riches.

Race Retro? Nah . It is a God forsaken venue and a bit dirt under the fingernails for an upmarket book festival. Nowt wrong with dirty fingernails (I hasten to add ) but the demographic isn't quite right I suspect .

An event like this should ideally be centrally located. Maybe Gaydon or the National Motor Cycle Museum are in the frame and like Duxford there are additional attractions.

Both Gaydon and the NMM are excellent suggestions. Centrally placed for everyone, and easy to get to.

Donington would be even better as it is only 20 minutes away for me!

Latest news from Porter Press :

" Much as we would like to organise another Motoring Literary Festival this year, we have reluctantly decided we do not have the resources in-house to do so. Last year’s event had a major impact on our small team, and publishing books must remain our priority, especially with all the exciting new titles in the pipeline. We are, though, determined to maintain the momentum and are planning to hold a Festival in 2025, our 20th anniversary year"
