The 24 Hours of Le Mans Centenary Trophy was revealed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Saturday 20 August. The unveiling of this unique piece made by the Monnaie de Paris – the Paris Mint –, and supported by Rolex, marks the start of the centenary celebrations!

I was tickled by the comment in the film clip that Tom Kristensen has currently won 10% of all Le Mans 24 Hour races.

Tom Kristensen, put on a decent pair of shoes for pity's sake!

I have to confess that Pebble Beach and its ilk bring out the class warrior in me , and as far as I am concerned, Tom's sartorial infelicity is only to be welcomed .

Tom’s lounge suit / footwear combo is uber-trendy and thus essential to attracting a younger, fashion-conscious (-victim) audience.

I was bemused to see that someone revived such a toxic brand name as Delorean. Do potential buyers only know of the name through the film ‘Back to the future’ and know nothing of the back story?

Nice, though, to see that Bugatti on stage - the one of whose existence Jaguar’s lawyers seemed to be totally unaware when claiming that the idea of a sports car without separate mudguards was born with the C Type…

That’s my day’s worth of cynicism expelled in one go…

Who is the master of ceremonies in the video?

Justin Bell...son of who you know.

Nine times Le Mans 24 Hours, one podium in 1995 with the Harrods' McLaren.

Lovely Bugatti, of course one of the rare French winners of their great race...

(Only joking Louis. )

In that context, I heartily agree.

Thanks.  I thought so but it’s been a while since I’ve seen him and he didn’t seem as animated as usual.  I thought I heard someone call him Derek, and at first I wondered if it might be Derek Hill sporting an English accent.    ;)

I too heard him addressed as Derek, which confused me mightily.

Thanks for confirming that I’m not “hearing things.”    ;)

Justin had some health issues last year that may have slowed him up a little.

Aside from his third place finish in '95, we should also salute his LM GT2 win at La Sarthe in '98.
