Having successfully sorted the similar Ligier and Haas queries, I'd welcome your help with identifying these Ferrari mechanics? The images are cropped from photos I am using in the forthcoming Jacky Ickx book; Jacky is at pains to thank the various crew members who designed and prepared his cars, so as far as possible I am naming them all in the photo captions to maintain the theme.

 

The first images is from Spain 1971, and could possibly be Benedetti (does anyone know his first name?). The second image is from Daytona 1972, and I have no idea. Could that be Marcello Bonello on the refuelling rig?

 

Unfortunately Mr Cuoghi does not remember, and Mr Forghieri is reluctant to answer my emails ...

The only response I can offer speedily is that the 'headless man' in the dark jacket - centre image - looks like Giacomo Caliri, the team engineer and aerodynamicist.

The cropped out guy on the right in the third shot (in brown cords) is Peter Schetty, but as he was a known quantity he is partially excised!

 

I'd love to be able to name these chaps!

A couple of extras to try and help: First shot is a wider crop of the refuelling area, with another guy behind Caliri. I wonder who the lady (?) standing behind the car is?

 

 

Second photo - I guess there is very little chance of identifying this Firestone tech working on the left-front ...

I guess it's a pretty tricky angle to identify anybody from.

The person at far right of the frame almost looks like a fire marshal to me.   The heavy, quilted jacket looks like a fireman's jacket, and the partially obscured hat could be a fireman's hat.   If you look at pit stop pictures from Daytona, even in the early 1970's,  firemen were sometimes visible standing near refueling cars. He also appears to be holding a hose of some kind. I'm not sure driver family members, like Dee-Ann Andretti, would be permitted on pit road during the race.

 

The only puzzling aspect is the white color of the helmet and jacket, which I don't recall ever seeing for that kind of personal protective equipment.

At first glance, the unknown figure in white looked to me like the field official who signals goals in Australian Football. But doubtful.

Peter Darley, who among other things was at one time Firestone's official photographer, has confirmed that the tyre technician on the left-front is indeed Bruce Harre. So ten out of ten to Doug for his identification skills. 

 

Now, if we can just put names to the boys in blue .....

Thanks AJCee, great set of photos!  Yes, same white-suited man is visible in all  the pit-stop photos, definitely a fireman wearing a fireman's hat. I don't know why he's not gloved, but the hose is attached to a fire extinguisher.

 

 

A group picture what appears to be the full Ferrari crew is here down in the middle of the third page, which might help in identifying specific crew members:

Antonio Davoli has updated me with the names in the "Group" photo as follows:

 

Standing from left to right: Guidetti - Assali - Schenetti - Chiussi - Cioni -? - Toni - Muzzarelli. Kneeling from left to right: Pignatti - Benassi - Corradini - Chiodi - Scaramelli - Bellentani

 

"Our" guys in the Daytona 1972 photo are Schenetti on the refuelling hose, Guidetti with the wheel gun and Chiodi slightly obscured behind Guidetti.

 

The mechanic in the 1971 Barcelona photo is Castelli.

 

Parkesi has come up trumps with Chioti's first name; can anyone do the same for Schenetti, Guidetti and Castelli - I realise I am asking a lot!

Schenetti & Guidetti are untraceable at the moment.

Obviously they were not members of the "Club Meccanici Anziani F1" 

Could be Guidotti and Sacchetti?

Both are listed in connection with Maserati...

There are 3 Guidotti (Flavio/Gianbattista/Liborio) but from my understanding all three were Maserati guys before the seventies.

& Gustavo Sacchetti, again with Maserati.

Thanks - Maybe Antonio's source  is correct with the names Schenetti & Guidetti then - they look like younger guys than one would expect from the Maserati days?

Different chaps, same name is a possibility, of course, but GianBattista Guidotti was pre-war test and occasional stand-in racing driver, then postwar team manager, for Alfa Romeo.
