Worst driver: Sainz, I guess
Best team:
Worst team:
Best overtake: Alonso on Vettel
Worst overtake:
Best moment: Probably Alonso’s exciting overtakes

Best thing about the race: The setting and fans
Worst thing about the race: Race Control’s succession of worrying decisions.

And the race in a sentence: exciting modern Japanese GP but very concerning to see lessons identified but seemingly not yet learned.

Best driver: Verstappen - he was a mile out front and faultless. Kudos to Latifi though for getting points!

Worst driver: Gasly because he did recklessly endangered marshalls by speeding through the area where the crash occurred.

Best team: Red Bull 1-2 hard to look passed that.

Worst team: Haas or Alpha Tauri, Haas made a terrible strategy call, and Alpha Tauri weren’t daring enough with theirs.

Best overtake: Russell on the outside of Tsunoda, it’s the only one I really remember.

Worst overtake: Zhou on Latifi where he spun on the exit.

Best moment: Finally getting the race going.

Worst moment: Either Gasly speeding under safety car, the FIA putting a tractor on track before all drivers had caught up behind the safety car, or the massive wait and reluctance from the FIA to send the cars out behind safety car to even check conditions.

And the race in a sentence: A mess from start to finish.

An 8.

But my personal rulebook still says I need to give half points, so that makes it a 4!

5, because it should have been started a lot earlier for a full race.

It felt like a sprint race, in that it finished just as it should have started getting interesting.

It was a sprint race. It didn't get going. It was fairly interesting seeing whether Hamilton could pass Ocon or Perez could pass Leclerc, but ultimately the answer to both was no and we didn't see the really exciting bits like Alonso vs Vettel. Verstappen put in a brilliant, dominant performance that might rightfully be remembered in the same breath as Schumacher Spain 96 or Hamilton Silverstone 08, but it won't because it was half a race. Strategy didn't quite come into play, it just didn't have the chance to fully play out.

I'm glad it got going and don't have the same frustration at the FIA that most seemed to that it took so long - visibility was terrible and the weather was just deteriorating, it was always going to be stopped. But that half lap where Gasly almost got taken out by the tractor and then went too fast anyway was a hell of a depressing half lap given that it was here and in similar conditions eight years ago that we lost Bianchi.

Not rating it as a proper race really. Max was amazing, Ocon was amazing. So strong under so much pressure. Dunno really who sucked - Mick and Zhou struggled but only because they rolled the dice and even Latifi did well for once.

Best driver: Verstappen. It'll eventually dawn on some people that he's going to be immortalised as one of the greats, he has something very few have.
Worst driver: Nobody in those conditions.
Best team: Red Bull. Almost flawless today and this season with very few exceptions.
Worst team: Nobody in particular.
Best overtake: Alonso around the outside at 130R (again!) or Verstappen holding it round the outside at Turn 1. Kudos to Russell for twice pulling off the Eddie Irvine special, too.
Worst overtake: Nothing in particular.
Best moment: Seeing two top drivers go wheel to wheel into Turn 1, at Suzuka, in the rain. Pashun.
Worst moment: That the race ended.
Best thing about the race: It's Suzuka in the rain. I already enjoyed it before it begun.
Worst thing about the race: I don't know all the details, but a tractor on a live track probably isn't great.

And the race in a sentence: Suzuka. Japan. Rain. Formula 1. Faaaaaantastic.

Regarding your worst moment, is it the way the championship was won, or just max winning it in general?

Bad, but it was mostly caused by the rainy weather (ironically).

2022 is a writeoff - here's hoping there is actually is legitimate competition in 2023.

Best driver: Ocon
Worst driver: none  (not Latifi for a change)
Best team: Red Bull
Worst team: FIA
Best overtake: Magnussen on the outside of someone
Worst overtake: none
Best moment: none
Worst moment: FIA postponing the race after red flag and then shortening it to half distance
Best thing about the race: NOTHING
Worst thing about the race:  --

And the race in a sentence: is their intention to lose the audience of F1? Ridiculous also that Japanese fans paid a lot to watch just half a race. Oh and Max should have been punished for almost causing a massive accident with Norris in qualy. Why is it that a top team gets away with this?

23 racing laps on pathetic tyres for full points, laughable.  If these cars cannot race in the rain then why are we going to countries in their rainy/typhoon season?  Ocon was excellent and kudos to Seb and Latifi for changing tyres first and benefiting from that.

One has to state that the Japanese audience are possibly the best. They endured the hours of waiting in the cold rain without losing any of their enthusiasm. I believe there were supporters for each and every driver and team. As we know sometimes supporters dressed up to the extremes, like the ones appearing in near identical overalls wearing the replicated crash helmet. They made the GP!

While the race itself, when it got going, was worth a much higher rating, I cannot give it more than a 1 because of the performance of RD and the TV producers.

Mistakes, as I see it:
1. Considering how afraid they are for rain, they should have started behind SC with full wets
2. After they realized the rain was constant, they should have brought the cars out much earlier behind the SC. The proof of that is that when the race eventually got started it was already time for Intermediates
3. No info about current WDC standing on the screens and apart from shortly showing how many points each driver would receive, something that for most people looked like an error, there was nothing indicating that we were actually watching a race in whoch a WDC might be crowned.

The communication in general was very bad, which also resulted in tractor being on track, actually on the track surface, long before it was safe.

The WDC was now a result of Leclerc getting a penalty, but had RBR known the situation I am fairly certain they would have pitted MAX to get the fastest lap and make the WDC extra sweet. Max even asked about it and they had enough time for a stop, but since they did not know that the point meant something, they picked the safe option.

All in all, a terrible day for RD, CotC and whoever was in charge of TV production.

If they can drive with intermediates they can always race so there was absolutely no reason for postponing and then cutting race lenght

It never got me excited because it was so short. There were some fun battles but... I don't know. I guess it was worth anything between 3 and 6.
