Why do you continue to allow business and porn spammers to flood you article comments section with 10+ posts per day?!

It's completely unacceptable that you seemingly refuse to do anything about it. No one checks anything! No one vets anyone! No one removes offensive posts! No one does anything at all! What kind of business is this? This site has become NSFW! Here are just two porn examples:

Wаtсh mу webсam mastuгbаtiоn vidеоs -> http://lovers︆︆︆.︆tum︆︆s︆︆︆un︆.c︆︆︆om

I was a гeallу bad giгl.
Рunish me with your diсk in mу mоuth!

The fix is easy, but you won't do it: Disable the ability to post URLs in the article comments section. In the last six months, I've only seen a couple of members use URLs for references.  As long as URLs can be posted, more spammers will come and post.

If you can't do that, then get rid of the article comments section until such time as you can fix it. Let your members temporarily go back to the Readers' Comments forum until it's fixed.

As a Plus member for over 22 years, I find your lack of action appalling and disrespectful to all your members.

Enough is enough! You need to fix this! NOW!!!

No, just a routine warning not to click on those links. I don't work for Autosport or the Motorsport Network.

The forum is distinct from those websites and we have our own anti-spam measures operated by our heroic volunteers.

So, we're still AtlasF1 here?

OK. Fair enough. Where should these complaints go? Who's responsible? What can be done?

When these comments are "reported," where do they go? Who receives them?

We honestly have no idea, because - as you observed - we are essentially still AtlasF1 in all but name. The forum is not even hosted on the same server as the main website. The forum server is in Ireland, the website is hosted in the United States.

When the comment system was introduced the moderation team here had a brief private discussion about this very possibility, having already observed similar problems on motorsport.com. Had we been asked, we would have strongly advised against it unless it could be effectively policed. But nobody asked us.

I can't make any promises CONOSUR but please could you include details of which story you saw these comments on? Just in case anyone is reading, it would be really helpful if they could go straight to the problem area.

I was going to report in here this morning but didn't bother because I know it's not monitored. The porn is in the magazine overview article.

As it's a website issue you could try support@autosport.com, as that inbox is definitely monitored.

That would be pretty much every F1 article, except the Plus articles...

Here's one of today's with both spam and porn: Gasly to continue FIA talks to avoid "embarrassing" F1 race ban (autosport.com)

Thought I'd check around, and the first article I checked was in Rally: FIA investigating serious safety breach at WRC Rally Japan (autosport.com)

Basically, they're spamming everthing across the entire site! Never thought I'd consider dumping Autosport, but, to allow this to continue, shows their complete lack of standards and concern for their members.

:well:

I've been in touch with Autosport staff about this issue. They are aware and accept the spam is a problem, and it's been flagged to the Motorsport Network technical team for a fix.

And it’s a credit to the moderation here that we’ve never seen any such thing as users on this forum

It seems they've made an effort to clean up the F1 section, which is certainly appreciated, but the entire rest of the site is still "Spam Central."

Interesting aside that. So do AUTOSPORT own the forum? Or is it a Sauber-Alfa Romeo style branding excercise?

Does this mean the forum is in safe hands regardless of what happens with AUTOSPORT/MSN?

Autosport, or rather Motorsport Network, do own the forum. Vitesse was referring to the lack of shared services/systems/architecture. Which does matter but it's primarily a technical rather than commercial consideration.

As for the latter, draw your own conclusions, they're as good as mine.

Well, sadly, they're back. I noticed six new spam posts, with inactive links, in F1, so randomly checked other areas and stopped after finding some in the first five areas I checked...

I think it was more than once actually… :smoking:

A similar complaint has just been posted in TNF.

More details - your browser, OS etc would be helpful.

Can't say I see this myself, but I do use a rather handy Firefox extension called 'I Don't Care About Cookies'. ;)
