Lego fans will be pleased to hear that the 2024 Speed Champions sets are rumored to include a twin-pack of BMW's M4 GT3 racing car and the LMDh prototype M Hybrid V8.  Another kit will feature the McLaren Formula 1 car.

Just listening to TWISC where they discuss the 31/10 incident. I think I agree with MP's take on it... 100% Derani's fault for not leaving room, but also Felipe's fault for not backing out of the move IF he knew Derani was the driver of the 31, basically meaning that the move itself wasn't excessively risky but Derani is the wild card and has consistently gone unpunished for similar moves, so there's no incentive for him to not push the 10 off track. I do agree with this. Derani is very quick, but the guy is too aggressive. IMSA needs to clamp down on this.

Derani’s fault for punting the 10. Thats the part that always bugs me. I am not a fan of squeezing cars off the track anyway, but its stuck in my mind that Derani clearly put his car into the 10, causing Felipe to go off.

I agree that IMSA should put the kabosh on such behavior. It will take big balls to do that given the driving etiquette promoted by the parent company.

Is there any onboard from Derani from the incident? I'll admit that it's really hard to see exactly what happens in the trackside footage, clearly the 31 goes wide and touches the 10, but hard to say whether he's drifting wide intentionally or is just understeering or what. Clearly his fault for pushing the 10 off, but when I hear "punted another car" I tend to think of him steering into the 10 deliberately.

I listened to the onboard of Derani during the race replay and at the time I noted that Derani did not exactly take his right foot out of it…Had he done so, he would have been able to take a tighter line. I guess is a philosophical point about whether drivers should just be able to mash it and it’s just hard racing with a championship on the line.

He seemed to make a correction  to move the car further out, rather than just understeer, but that's entirely baseless opinion on my part.  I think that it was definitely a deliberate running off the road, and I think he should have received a penalty for it, given that the other car was alongside going into the corner, and he knew it was there.  But since he'd never had a penalty for that in the past, and the 10 had to know he would do it, the 10 was making a suicidal choice attempting that pass.

This strikes me as accurate, and all the more depressing for being so.   :well:

The RACER Mailbag, October 25 | RACER | Page 4 has made me smile this morning:

After an impeccable drive at Petit, Colin Braun should be on every team’s radar. Has he found a home yet?

Jonathan and Cleide Morris, Ventura, CA

MP: I understand Colin does have a new home for next year which is great news, but I haven’t yet heard where.

That is great news, I can only hope it is a full season in a GTP. The Morris' should have opened their aperture and seen that Braun's career in IMSA should put him on every teams radar. He's fast, he wins races and championships, and he is not a crasher.

That's a bit of a dumb decision by the GTP teams, frankly.  He's a talent they should've been snapping up in whatever way they could.

Hartley and Herta (Colton) have been announced as the endurance cup drivers for WTR Acura (so they are the third drivers at Daytona 24, Sebring, etc)

So that means the F1 driver rumor for WTR isn't likely to happen. The comments in this article suggest it fell through:

Curses.  Oh well, Hartley and Herta will be a very good pair of drivers to see in action.  Would like Palou and Dixon in the Cadillacs.
