SprintCar & Midget/SpeedSport  magazine will cease in print form Dec. 10; for the same money you would pay for a paper magazine they will Email you the online form from now on.

SprintCar started as Open Wheel back in 1980, when that folded Doug Auld kept sprint cars in print with SprintCar & Midget magazine; When he died last Oct. SprintCar & Midget was merged with SpeedSport  but in reality the handwriting was on the wall,

I read magazines about the cars, not the drivers and they had turned into a version of Hollywood news for race drivers with the cars getting little attention, but I will still miss it as it was a link to a form of racing that gets very little attention nowadays. :well:

I only wrote about, and was interested in writing about, the drivers and tracks, not the cars   ;)  Though I feel there should always be room for some tech and history on the cars themselves.

Horses for courses: most of the time the driver is someone who gets in the way when I'm trying to get a look at a car. I'd say that for me, motorsport is 90% technical interest and maybe a bit of racing.

Not really a surprise, after Doug's death, it seemed to be just a matter of time before the announcement came. It's a shame.

The personality-praising puff pieces have infested my favorite aviation magazines too. Now I can skim through magazines which I once read cover-to-cover. Seems to be the new normal as far as editorial direction for specialty mags.
