Absolutely horrible news to read at the best of times, let alone this time of year. RIP to an incredible man.

I was told about Philippe Streiff’s passing. That’s really sad to hear. I’m also being told that Jean-Pierre Jabouille is not doing well either.

Philippe has died, aged 67.
No age at all really but on the other hand he had 33 years of life after he nearly died in that testing crash in Rio which paralysed him.
A podium in just his sixth Grand Prix, could have achieved more in the right situation.
And a key player behind the Paris Bercy karting event, where Prost and Senna raced together for the final time.
RIP

Sad news. RIP Phillipe. I was very impressed by his driving at Adelaide in 1986 - smooth and quick. And of course he scored a podium with Ligier in 1985. Sounds like he was a decent man too.

The fact that the image on my iphone is the oh so sexy Gitanes livery means I remember Streiff very well, never more so than in the gorgeous , and incredibly loud Ligier Renault at Brands European GP in 1985

Although Philippe Streiff was quite a tall person it never showed when he was sitting in a monoposto, I wonder how he managed to squeeze in.
At least I never found a photo of him in a car seemingly too small for him. Probably the Martini F3 in the photo above might be one of the more "comfortable" cars, also the Tyrrell 016 in the Adelaide photo. But if you compare Streiff with his Tyrrell teammate Brundle when sitting in their cars you won´t see a difference although Brundle was roughly a head shorter.
Compare Brundle with Danner in their Zakspeed days you will easily recognize who ist the taller driver and Streiff was even taller than Brundle.
RIP Philippe Streiff

Somewhat luckily.
"On the penultimate lap, Ligier-Renault driver Philippe Streiff tried to overtake his senior team-mate Jacques Laffite for second place and, as result of this manoeuvre, Streiff's front wheel axle was severely damaged." Wikipedia.

Sorry to hear this, Reinhard, thanks for letting us know.
Philippe is very much missed by all the Tyrrell fraternity.
