Gasly is a very good F1 driver, there is a reason Red Bull backed him for 7 years (or something like that).

I hope they have good PR people. Gasly after the race should be... interesting.

Hang on. So was Permane a valued part of the Enstone crew or was he a pain in the bum that nobody liked?
If he was as “toxic” as the team supposedly says, nobody would have stood up for him, let alone Otmar who would have had no reason to. He could have let Alan go and been a hero to the Enstone boy band and put himself in the Renault overloads’ good books.
So with all due respect to your unnamed source (weasel words) and Montagny, I don’t think that adds up. Everything seems to point to extreme incompetence on the part of the Renault board.

Well welll.
That mechanic is not my source but it shows that there is some truth what i posted in august.

+30 years and he was not nice, does really not sound true.

I'm kinda hoping the Binotto rumours aren't true. He might be a good engineer but that doesn't mean he makes a good team principal. The team needs someone with vision and drive, Mr "winning the championship is not our objective" will just strengthen the current mediocrity.

When you become top of the pile and have a lot of social control within the team that have endured several owners it becomes very difficult to fire that person unless a boss has big balls to do it.

I have to disagree, that is not how a company function for 30 years, regardless of how well he is at his job, souring the workplace to the point alleged would mean good bye.

Szafnauer wasn't the right person to solve the issue with oldies at Enstone. That's why he's out.
It's time to go for these guys, Permane was one of them.
Anyway, it's just one of many things to fix. The best thing to do now is convincing Binotto and giving him absolute power.

The Pharaoh
I don't think it will happen in any case. Alpine already confirmed that Famin will remain in his role with no designated TP for '24.
