I'm doing research into the yearly F1 tyre tests, particularly Brands Hatch 1982. Would anyone have ANY info on it? Even just a date for starters would be good. Many thanks indeed.

The testing took place on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th June. The weather wasn’t great - rain all morning on Thursday, and from mid-morning to early afternoon on the Friday. Rosberg in the FW08 Williams was comfortably quickest throughout, while Piquet impressed in the wet with some scary-looking laps in the Brabham turbo.

Not, I think, an official F1 tyre test but I clearly remember seeing the first Spirit Honda testing at Brands Hatch, with Johansson driving.
The car's very first test was at Silverstone in Nov.82, and it's first race was the Race of Champions at Brands in '83, so my sighting must have been between those two dates. I would plump for early '83, as I think I was there on a general test day pre-season looking after a Lola T70. Somewhere (!) I have a picture of the car exiting it's garage, but can't find it at the moment ! I also have an Autosport magazine with some pics of the testing, and if I can find that it would confirm the date. I will try !!

I seem to remember a comment from Keke Rosberg after that test and bearing in mind how quick the cars were. "If I go off at Paddock, I think I'll end up in bloody Dartford"

The poor bloke must have spent too long in the south east of England. I have no idea where to find bloody Dartford.

In true pedantic TNF spirit, I have to say that if he’d wanted to get to Dartford he should have gone off at Clearways/Clark. Going off at Paddock would have taken him closer to Chatham.
