I was minding my own business, and then this just appears on my Youtube screen:
Lol, why did they schedule this race on the same weekend with the only other major series racing this year in South Africa ? Just beyond.
Either way, here's some quality GT3 goodness courtesy of the Intercontinental GT Series. Enjoy; there's still 5 hours left.

Only 10 cars though 3 stopped after the first hour for their separate race. Odd seeing a podium ceremony during a race shame such a small field again i'm guessing logistics are still an issue to get more entrants back into the race and i know weather can be an issue there but 10 cars for a race is bad, considering pre-covid the grid was decently sized

I watched it on and off for a couple of hours. Great track is Kyalami. Wasn’t there serious talk of an F1 return? That would be brilliant, as long as they didn’t butcher it.

If they can find the funding Kyalami (in it's current state) will likely be on the 2024 F1 calendar, only lack of funding caused Kyalami missing out on this year already. They're close to returning to F1.

It's not off to a great start; stuck behind the SC after a first lap crash.

Wow Valentino Rossi holding his own in second place. I haven't been paying attention to him yet but that's impressive.
Posted 23 April 2023 - 13:39
Deletraz is the king of LMP2 with that race winning overtake. Whoa.
Happy to see the #83 AF Corse on podium and #16 winning in GTs.
Now time to enjoy the best GT series at Monza

Local yellows for that accident at Monza? Is race control full of idiots?
Are they going to leave all that debris at the end of the main straight? Unbelievable.

I thought that was .....odd but I can't exactly say I'm displeased with how quickly it was handled.

Alongside Indycar at Barber and Nascar at Dover, we are racing World GTs at Nola this weekend.
Yes, that Nola from the 2015 meme Indycar race.
Race starts at 4:10pm US Eastern / 9:10 pm London time.

To be fair NOLA is a great circuit and has been resurrecting itself for different series in the past few years. The Indycar event should be brought back some day IMO, with better promotion

There's a superb entry of 24 GT3's and 19 GT4's for the British GT Championship's Silverstone 500 this weekend. And then next weekend we've got an excellent 29 car entry for the Fanatec GT Europe Sprint round at Brands Hatch. Two great weekends in the offing!

The implosion of Audi customer racing is impressive.
Ferrari are running customer GT3, LMH, and F1. I don't get why the F1 program had to kill everything else. It's not just GT3 either. GT4, GT2, everything will be gone. Did the GT2 ever even race?

Because it's not F1 that's killing it. It's the fact the whole of VAG is moving towards full electric. Customer racing programs featuring ICEs are already obsolete for them. F1 is an outlier.

Didn't they just pull out of Formula E?
We still have horse racing.
I don't get them. Sometimes it's not about selling what you race. F1 proves that cars. Red Bull don't even sell cars! Oh well, we'll see. The R8 GT3 was such a cool car.

I really enjoyed those final laps. The #40 Audi was getting right up there and that 4-wide battle between the #54 Porsche, #11 Comtoyou Audi and 2 Emil Frey Ferraris was great to enjoy.
Looking forward for the second race.
Oh and if any of you want more GT goodness, we had GT Challenge Asia this weekend at Buriram as well:
Posted 14 May 2023 - 12:49
I expect second race to be reverse of race 1, but Marciello managing to win. I have to admit that it feels quite repetitive from previous years and I am a bit bored, particularly that now WRT are with BMW and not able to spoil Merc's party.

The #40 Audi of Tresor Orange was the best crew all day long and got the Race #2 victory with Ricardo Feller and Mattia Drudi. And a great battle by Legeret holding off Marciello.
But most importantly - THE DOCTOR is on the podium! God did I miss these interviews with him.
First win also for Drudi - long time coming - and how about that ! Maxime Martin, the BMW GT stalwart there together with Rossi on his first podium.
What a day in Motorsport for VR46 - this made my day
