GM has just released a crate engine of the 6.6 litre small block v-8.

What is impresive is the spec. of this truck/SUV engine, 6 bolt mains, forged steel crank, billet camshaft, 1o,8:1 CR, etc. That's a full race engine spec 25 years ago. 

 

I guess the high weight of GM trucks and SUV's requires serious power and only the SB is still made so a rugged spec. is needed to make it run 100K miles or so?

Ah 400 inches cubed and change, is back; it is for decoration but noe the rocker covers have covers.
