Ah yes. Odd numbered year, dodgy sounding sponsor. Letās we what they come up with.
Aren't MoneyGram a fairly legit company as far as F1 sponsors go?
Posted 31 January 2023 - 09:04
Moneygram is a business established 40 years ago and has become the second largest provider of money transfer services worldwide. They are traded on NASDAQ with a market cap of just over a billion. I know itās fashionable to bash the sponsors of the Americans but let's at least acknowledge the facts about the company.

MoneyGram are no tinpot sponsor. They're pretty big league.

Hence dodgy āsoundingā.
Sounds no more dodgy than naming a company āRed Bullāā¦

Hence dodgy āsoundingā.
I think you are confusing it with Moneytron.
Which was a dodgy F1 sponsor.

Moneygram are probably reading this thread along with other sponsors and thinking twice about supporting F1 teams. Shame on you PayasYouRace!

Truth can be hard to find at places like this, why intentionally poison the well?

I as usual have high expectations in how well Haas will perform in 2023, if previous seasons are a guideline they will start out strong, then falter the longer the season last. I can not change they went with the uninspirering choice of Hulkenberg next to Magnussen, so will back Nico almost as much as I back Kevin.

I guess I donāt know my own power. Still, with Haasā track record for sponsors, Iām amazed theyāve attracted another. Maybe this time itāll work out.
You have been going on about this for 2 days now, maybe that is why posters get a little upset?

Yeah, hence "sounds like". Reminds me of Moneytron, which of course is no reflection on MoneyGram the company.

I'm going to refer to the Haas car as The Moneygram as often as possible to make up for it

Absolutely, the promised returns on a Moneygram transfer are rubbish compared to how much the Moneytron computer can make for you.

I'm with you totally on this. I worked in financial services, and a name like "MoneyGram" would have excited ridicule and suspicion in equal measure.

I am assuming you were in financial services in the UK?
The FCA list a number of companies with 'dodgy' names, such as Money Sage, Money Guru, Money Wisdom, Moneyback, Money Puzzle, etc etc. Moneygram is a US company and they doubtless have a more relaxed view about a company name, but even so, it is hardly more risible than these UK ones.

Put your money in sensible sounding ventures like FTX and Wirecard, that's my advice.

I'm not. Just pointing out that a name that "would have excited ridicule and suspicion" in what I assumed to be UK financial circles is far from unusual in those very circles.
Moneygram is a large and long established company that does not deserve to be termed 'dodgy'. Let's save that for the crypto scams

Ridiculously tiny car number on the front - we're back in a trend of them getting smaller every year. Plenty space for it to be two or three times the size.
Posted 31 January 2023 - 14:07
I mean, its nicer than last year. Pretty clean actually.

I like it. I think we will see a lot of black incorporated into liveries this year, after the somewhat ugly solutions teams had last year as they shaved more and more paint off.
Posted 31 January 2023 - 14:14
The "Palm Angels" font doesn't suit the car

lol, thnx to the angle of the picture the front wing reads One Gram š
"One gram" and a white line running over the nose towards it. That's some subliminal advertising

It's clean and quite nice but also quite forgettable unfortunately.
But considering the signage Haas (still) has on the car, I suspect it's Gene rather than TeleMoneygram that's picking up the big bills...
And yes, it does evoke the Kmart Newman/Haas Lola's of the 1990s as well as the Braun Tyrrell for me.
