Of course it’s true, Matt wouldn’t say it otherwise.

RIP Slim, appeared in F1, excelled in trucks and did a bit of Mazda touring cars too.

RIP Slim, 1 point at Silverstone as the highlight for his F1 career.

No, drummer.

But with all due respect, this is sad news.

Well, "ABBA drummer" is a bit of exaggeration, he might have played on some studio sessions with them but was never an official member or even listed as a musician on any of their records...

But actually quite fine racing driver, considering lack of funds and age when he entered F1.

Everyone who managed to score a point with ATS deserves some respect.

He was "only" a sessionman for Abba, but a regular member of several great Jazz Rock bands such as Solar Plexus and Made in Sweden.
Check out some of their songs, good stuff.

A couple of shots I took of Slim in the ATS at Canada in 1981. Both are from within the hairpin that is now turn two at the Villeneuve circuit. Lammers in the Ensign in the shot with him. RIP

He did have Abba as a logo on his car on the ATS (Abba didn't pay for it though, it was hoped the logo would bring media interest and other paying sponsors in).

A thought entered my mind: Is rhythm feeling a fundamental part of a drivers skill? I mean, driving is very much about having exact timing. Sure, the flow of driving is in many ways different from the flow of music, but there are many similarities. Maybe more Zappa than Justin Bieber though.

R.I.P Slim, you did something for the rest of us and you were a funny guy.
