Sellicks Beach Classic motorcycle racing. I just saw this on the news, Bikes are back again on Sellicks Beach, about 45 min south of Adelaide SA.
This has been an on and off event since WW2. Usually about this time of year.
My father rode there early 50s, and found it not his taste. He was a endurance trial rider. He went to one of them as a spectator many years ago, 90s and met so many blokes from his motorcycling past. He retired about when I was born
On the news I saw Murray Williams, evidently a winner on a solo,, at 85y/o! He was riding an Ariel Square 4 sidecar in scrambles when I was a little tacker,, and I am 68!. I spent a couple of days with him in Royal Adelaide hospital when he had crashed his speedcar. This about 40 years ago. I did not realise he was so old.
I believe he still does long track on outfits.
I know of other riders still doing classic events. Though not quite that old
