A much warmer day in Albert Park promises an interesting race.

Can the Mercedes hold on to Verstappen?

Will Alonso come through for another podium?

How much progress will Perez make from the back of the grid?

Can Hulkenberg and Albon make good on their strong qualifying?

We'll find out in ... 45 minutes! It's race day in Melbourne. Race start 0600 BST / 0700 CEST.

Magnussen on the drivers parade asked ‘any words for your fans back home?’

‘Nah - they won’t be awake’

I'm excited about Perez's race for it'll show us how big of a race pace advantage the Red Bull really has over the field.

Excited about monotonous, drive by DRS passes? Okay.

Perez to end up between P5-P8 is my guess. Hopefully a fun incidentfree first lap before Verstappen runs away. Alonso to lead WDC if Verstappen DNFs? 😊

That's huge. Teams will need the hard tire today.

Huh? If he has a normal race, he’ll end up second surely ?

That pitlane start will be costly though. I imagine he'll be practically a pit stop behind from the drop of the flag.

I believe we will have the 3rd different winner of the year.

I might be one of the few who thinks this year will be a closed championship.

I’m sure the stewards will throw a safety car for a bit of litter or something to ‘spice it up’

Hamilton probably will do a counter strategy to the others if that interview is anything to go by.

I am strangely stoked about this race - woke up early to watch all the practices ... and it looks like it could be a good one.

Feels like the real season opener .... there is something about waking early for the Race in Aus that just feels right.

Hope everyone enjoys it - no matter who you support .

Also .... I wish to apologise to anyone who I upset or annoyed yesterday ... that was 100% not my intention - not even a little bit. .. and that is all I want to say about that.

Back to the racing .....

Very interested to see Merc’s pace vs AM given the warm track conditions.

And apparently Red Bull is (one of the) only teams that have two new sets available for the race? Only heard Horner say that, haven’t checked myself tbh.

I doubt this track has enough passing oportuneties for that. On a cirquit like Bahrein or Jeddah the chances are higher. But I have a feeling Perez would have more troubles cutting through the field then for example Hamilton or Verstappen have done

Woke up without an alarm clock. Surprising, but good morning from Scotland. :D

I went to Scotland once. Was staying in Irvine with my parents and went to Glasgow. Got stuck there overnight because the train schedule said there's a midnight train that apparently doesn't run on Sunday nights. The locals all knew, but nobody bothered to correct the printed schedule. Sat all night in the 24 hour Dunkin Donuts on American Corner, snuggling with the young nursing student I'd just met. Good times! I'm still trying to understand what some of those Glasgow locals were saying. I can understand you just fine here in black & white though! Loved my trip there. Beautiful country. Great people. /coolstorybro

Andrew Shovlin said yesterday that the Soft is actually more stable in the heat because it's easier to bring up to temperature and less peaky. Let's see.

I think the temp change might well mix up some relative performances a bit; margins are so tight between teams. Could be very interesting.

Excited for this race. Weather has come good. The F2 feature race was awesome so if we have even half the action of that it should be a cracker!
