It makes sense right up until it becomes dangerous. The sunset in Melbourne. The rain in Malaysia. The typhoon in Suzuka that killed Jules Bianchi.
And every time the FIA/FOM act super reluctant to change anything. They begrudgingly moved the race one hour earlier this year so that the drivers could see (and then the sun was a problem anyway because of the red flags). The locals in Malaysia warned them that the new, later start time would increase the risk of rain. They persisted then scrapped Malaysia because...rain! And don't get me started on Suzuka. They knew a week ahead of time that that typhoon was going to park itself over the circuit at race time. But heaven forbid the Brits have to get up earlier, you know.
When the drivers are put in jeopardy just so a few fussy Brits can sleep in an hour or two longer, it's not acceptable. The teams can supply their base teams with coffee. It's a whole lot more work to fix a car that's been crashed because the driver can't see. The FIA/VAR thing can chug a few energy drinks. That's a much better outcome than a driver losing their life.
I think you’re overreacting a bit but yes, I agree that start times shouldn’t be messed around with.
