Wrapping up one more verification on my 1/43 scale models, this time for Bang’s 1957 “Riverside” Maserati 450S driven by Carroll Shelby. The model link is here:

As best as I can tell, Shelby raced at Riverside in 1957 three times: inaugural race, Sept 17, and Nov 17. Color photos of the inaugural race show the numbers as white. Pictures from the latter races I’ve seen are black and white.

All that said, when did Shelby run at Riverside with the yellow #98? September or November, or both? Thanks!

I've seen that article before, but thanks for making me reread it because I think it clears up by confusion. There were, from what I understand, two races at Riverside, not three as I first read: One in September and one in November. My confusion came in because of a specific caption under one of the pictures which said there was a race on September 17, which Shelby one. That's not the case, and I think they meant November 17. So there was the inaugural race in Sept where he wrecked and a second race in Nov which he won. So based on the pictures of the wrecked car with white numbers, I deduce the model with yellow numbers was the rebuilt 450S races in November. Now if I could just find a photo to prove it!

here is a YouTube video that is titled Riverside International Raceway Sports Car Races Sept 1957 which is a little misleading.  Based on the results info from wsrp.cz for the September race (http://wsrp.cz/natus1957.html#256), the first 11:52 is from the September 1957 event.  The last 3 minutes or so matches up with the wsrp.cz info from the November race (http://wsrp.cz/nationals1957.html#15/5), and at 12:05 the Shelby Maserati 450S is seen with white numbers.  Personally, I am not surprised that the Bang model is incorrect by using yellow numbers...that is not the first time that I have seen mistakes like that.
