I saw this on Facebook:

In 1993, there was a #10 Ganassi car on pole, a Rahal was bumped from the field, there were one woman and one Japanese driver in the field, there were two Scotts, an Andretti started 24th, and a Brazilian driver started 9th and won his second Indy 500.

In 2023, there is a #10 Ganassi car on pole, a Rahal was bumped from the field, there are one woman and one Japanese driver in the field, there are two Scotts, an Andretti starts 24th, and a Brazilian driver starts 9th and is trying to win his second Indy 500.

The last time the DHL #28 Andretti started 19th it won the Indy 500.

*Checks qualifying results* ...

Grosjean winning it would be probably be the biggest fairy tale of them all, and likely gain the most international attention.

I wonder who could genuinely make a bigger splash by winning. Legge?

Agree with this. It would be spectacular in every way.

Probably a McLaren.

Sato, of course.

Other than that, Rahal winning after failing to make the race would be pretty splashy.  Wouldn't move the needle internationally, though.

Marco winning would be splashy, and maybe even gather some international attention.

Carpenter winning would be the splashiest local hero story, but nobody else would care much.

Legge winning would splash all over, but I don't think RLL have the car to do it this year.

A key reason the splash would be resounding.

Sato will make the splash when he wins his fifth 500. His third won't exactly be big news.

Good shout with Marco, though I think the Andretti curse is not quite as well known as it used to be.

Carpenter would be a specialist press splash. I don't think the wider world would give a damn.

Being the first woman to win the 500 would be massive. No I don't think she's got the car to do it, but my goodness stranger things have happened at The Speedway.

I'd love it if Kat won...   have always liked her and will never forget her appearance from medical after her off at the kink at RA.

Would also love AJ's #14 to win-  what did Santino do today to piss everyone off though??  MP said he didn't make any friends today during Carb Day runs...

He was damn agressive at times, divebombs and all.

Plus this with Rossi: NTT INDYCAR SERIES sur Twitter : "Never a dull moment @IMS. Things got a little dicey between @SantinoFerrucci & @AlexanderRossi. #INDYCAR // #Indy500 https://t.co/ZqKhX47KDT" / Twitter

A bit. Definitely the dumbest possible move on Carb day since it was so needless, as Hinch pointed out.

Helio winning his fifth would rank right up there.

Definitely. I wouldn't want to race alongside someone with such a cocky and infantile attitude at 230MPH, that's for sure.
