No it's because I enjoyed the discussion of monkeys in Essex!

You made it very clear that you are not a fair administrator. Your own words defeat your own justifications for your actions.

OK. Anyway, you're free to discuss climate change in the Paddock Club.

Emilia-Romagna is a beautiful part of the world. But it's an administrative region and therefore shouldn't be a named host of a Grand Prix. It would be like getting Donington Park to host the East Midlands Grand Prix. Geographically accurate but just not right.

Whereas the ancient and serene republic of San Marino is a good fit.

Petition to rename the British Grand Prix the Northamptonshire-Buckinghamshire Grand Prix!

Personally I would go for geography rather than an entirely separate country - had it been the other way round (ie it was always ER GP and they suddenly called it San Marino) I'm sure we'd be up in arms!

But I agree that it just feels wrong and has mucked up the record books a bit.

Btw do you remember when Bernie once threatened to hold the British GP in France?

We once had a "European GP". I'll take Emilia-Romagna over that.

I remember briefly being confused by the Memphis GP being held in Austria.

Nah, it all went to pot when they made the Pescara GP a Championship race in 1957 ... not to mention the Americans having two Championship races in 1959 and 1960 ... Dijon has hosted both the French and Swiss GPs ... etc etc ...

The Brazilian GP suddenly became the Sao Paulo GP last year.

I think I remember that one - the Queen waved the chequered flag, right?

The Brazilian GP suddenly became the Sao Paulo GP last year.

Which causes problems when listing GPs. In Wikipedia, Sao Paulo GP and Brazilian GP are considered different events, but both link to same article "Brazilian Grand Prix".

https://en.wikipedia...One_Grands_Prix

https://en.wikipedia...lian_Grand_Prix

Bit silly, because it's the same event. If Canadian GP was renamed to Montreal GP, or Australian GP to Melbourne GP, it's still the same event in both cases.

I'm sure if a circuit approached FOM and said that they'd pay extra to call it the whatever GP, then it would be called that.

I live in Essex and I can confirm that there are definitely some monkeys around here.

No, they're French spies.

13 people dead now unfortunately, so clearly the right decision was made. Thoughts with all those effected.

Yes, this still annoys me incredibly. Luckily nobody apart from the promoters calls it that.

Also isn't Mexico officailly "Mexico City Grand Prix" rather than "Mexican Grand Prix"? Again, it messes with the offical record books unnecessariarly.

To be fair I am pretty sure this is not at the whim of FOM or Liberty Media but that the promoter of “the Brazilian Grand Prix” still somehow holds the rights to that event name so when we have a new promoter who either doesn’t wish to pay for the name (or the rights holder doesn’t wish to surrender even for money) they need to pick a new name (hence the São Paulo Grand Prix or the Mexico City Grand Prix). Similarly because CoTA (or its promoters) owns the rights to “US Grand Prix” that’s why we we have to have “Miami Grand Prix” or “Las Vegas Grand Prix” (not that we could have three US Grand Prixs of course!

Obviously life is more important as that isn’t replaceable but let’s hope that none of the equipment has been damaged and can be moved out of the risk zone soon.

Speaking of replacements will the f2 and f3 drivers get a new round to replace this one or do both lose a round?

The rumour was F2 would get a round at Singapore, no word on F3.

I'd be surprised by that, It'd have big budget implications to replace a drive-to round with a fly-away one.

Yeah, thats for sure it couldnt be held now, but can't they slot it in later!?

I know they can't. Im just frustrated Imola is canceled. Why couldn't it be any other race before Imola! EFFF!!

In Mexico City, the name change was necessary due to a legality related to the government funding. They had to change the name of the race in order to have a race. Not certain, but iirc there was something similar in Brazil that caused the name change.
