I dont think it was ever said so his son get a seat, but more so to give a chance his son would be in a competitive car. Of course he may have fell in love with the sport and brought the team for that reason instead. But I think at least some of it was that he wasnt happy with his son been in a backmarker car.

The line of "Stroll bought a team for his son" is trotted out repeatedly, on this forum and elsewhere.

Despite evidence to the absolute contrary.

Also despite evidence that Lance has finished only 1 or 2 positions behind his teammate in the WDC for most years, including even Vettel.

Back to Aston Martin and Honda, I was just thinking that it's actually not a whole lot different to the team being called Aston Martin Mercedes.

Nobody bats an eye about McLaren F1 being named McLaren Mercedes/McLaren Renault/McLaren Honda.

Aston Martin appear to have naming rights for 10 years, so it looks very much like it will be Aston Martin Honda at first.

The consequence of Honda quitting and then returning to F1 in the span of 2 years have created a funny development.

Back in 2016 Honda Research and Development (HRD) built a new, bigger building to better support their F1 operations.

The building was HRD's base of operations until 2021, when it was sold to Red Bull Powertrains as part of the arrangements for Honda's exit from F1.

Now it's news of today that Honda Racing UK (HRC UK) has a new base of operations to support their F1 operations with Aston Martin next year, and the building looks familiar!

In the span of 9 years that building has seen 3 different owners.

I guess RBPT was really just a rebranding.

I guess RBPT was really just a rebranding.

RBPT was always a phoney attempt to cover up the continued Honda engine supply.  In previous years,Tag Heuer was used to cover up the Renault engine supply.

Why the Ford Motor Company thinks it will get even a postscript of credit from Red Bull in the future is a mystery.  Though they will get ALL the blame.

RBPT wa soriginally formed to take over building and supplying the Honda PU after Honda announced their withdrawal, and to create the PU for 2026.

The Red Bull started winning and Hinda cancelled their withdrawal.

Since Honda remained, RBPT didn't need to "cover up" the continued Honda supply, and Honda remains on the engine cover, though maybe not as prominantly as previously.

Which will be interesting, since Ford's resposibility is the ERS, which will likely be not as big a differentiator as the ICE.

If the ICE is significantly down on power compared to others, it will also affect how much energy the ERS can recover and use.

The ICE is, reportedly, all RBPT.

Agreed, ICE development will be key to success in the next regulations.
