[..]
"FG2 is the entry level series for training drivers on their path to professional racing. Emerging talents from karting and junior disciplines learn in a modern car with suitable lower power and simpler performance."
[..]
A genuine extra path to the top of motorsports. Something that has been missing. Coming out of those new junior ranks into FE, might open up possibilities at WEC, IndyCar, F1 or others.

Some further specs of the car via an Instagram post says it will weigh 880kg and have a 55kWh battery pack.
There's also a comment from Nick Heidfeld responding to a question about whether it will be faster than an FE car:
"power and performance tuned to be perfect to learn and step through FG1 and FG2, to then advance to F-e as well as to other premier tiers of professional racing. So will have slower lap times than F-e"

Schaeffler is onboard for the FG Series effort as a key supplier to the series, providing motors, inverters, software etc.
The group was a big part of Abt Sportsline and Audi's Formula E powertrains effort.

NASCAR have revealed their EV prototype in partnership with ABB (who are also title sponsors of Formula E).
https://www.nascar.c...on-partnership/
The prototype was developed in collaboration with NASCAR’s OEM partners — Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota — and was built by the NASCAR engineers responsible for the Next Gen car and the Garage 56 entry into the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Throughout the process, NASCAR and the OEMs collaborated on the design and elements of the vehicle.
The track-tested, electrified stock car has three STARD UHP 6-Phase motors (one front, two rear) supplying power directly to all four specially designed Goodyear Racing Eagle tires. Anchored by a 78-kWh liquid-cooled battery, the tunable powertrain can produce 1,000 kW at peak power. Regenerative braking converts kinetic energy into power, making the car ideal for road courses and short oval tracks.
The All-Wheel Drive car has a generic Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) body made of sustainable flax-based composite. It shares many similarities with both the Next Gen and Garage 56 cars – the body sits on a modified Next Gen chassis, and the steering, suspension, brakes, and wheels all derive from the NASCAR Cup Series car.

We also have the news that FG Series has formed a partnership with the DTM and will appear on their schedule in 2025.
https://speedwaymedi...google_vignette
From 2025, FG Series and its two championships – FG1 and FG2 – will race during the DTM weekend schedule. In doing so, they will add to the entertainment on the track and enhance the sustainability measures already in place within the biggest European GT series. Furthermore, joint projects to promote young drivers and the implementation of innovative concepts are also planned. The integration of FG Series in one of the most prestigious motorsport series in Europe, and its strategic alignment, underlines the importance and potential of FG Series. The collaboration sees the DTM take on a pioneering role worldwide, as the first global motorsport brand to include the groundbreaking concept of the FG Series in its programme.
Thomas Voss, ADAC Motorsport Director, is impressed by the concept of FG Series: “We believe this is the way to shape the motorsport of the future. FG Series combines innovation with the promotion of youth and complements our vision perfectly. It will contribute significantly to the further development of our platform, particularly the areas of innovation, sustainability and digitalisation. FG Series will also be a perfect training platform for the entire ADAC youth development programme, as it not only supports drivers, but everyone involved in motor racing through its comprehensive programmes and scholarships.”

Looking ahead to 2025, I'm certainly hoping to see movement in Heidfeld/Gill's FG Series. Hopefully we get to see the car being run fairly soon. Definitely interested in how that all goes given that partnership with ADAC/DTM, and how it links with the NXT GenCup which already runs under that banner.

Definetely looking forward to hear more about that.
They've been bit silent in the last few months, expected some more updates given it's supposed to debut sometime this year.

With the ludicrous amount of EV hatchs with more than 300km range and power to spare, someone should be racing those things...

Storing fuel in a race car at -265 deg C has its issues. The fuel will evaporate in the fuel tank and then be ventilated out of the tank to atmosphere.
Last I heard there is no working fuel pump for liquid hydrogen that didnt destroy itself in a few hours.
It will be good to see if some of these techincal challenges have been overcome.

How is EV racing going at club level on your countries?
With the ludicrous amount of EV hatchs with more than 300km range and power to spare, someone should be racing those things...
Close to non existing. Even in Norway, where 96% of new car sales where EVs last year, there isn't much going on .
They have organized a national championship for EV, but that was more of a "show up with your road car and do some exercises" kind of thing.
And for Rally cross I guess a standard EV is too heavy and use too much brakes to be any good at a small closed off circuit.
