Somehow, today, I touched somewhere on the opening page which brought up a "topic stats" box which I've never seen before. I'm damned if I can replicate this, can anyone help please?

I tried that but the stats box didn't appear. Shame, because it appeared quite informative.

I was in full mode, I don't ever use mobile, whilst using a Fire pad. I'd been reading "Lost wages" and moved with the pad in my hand, now, doing so would have put the pad into portrait, th way that I held it. Then looking at screen there was a pop up box, very similar to the type that one has when a private message comes in. The stats includeed posters in the thread, how many times they'd posted within it. It was thread specific. I immediately tried to replicate it but haven't been able to.

I suggest you might see it if you click on the number of replies in a thread in the forum. So for instance, if you click on the literal number ‘773 replies’ against the silly season thread from the RC front page, do you see anything?

Oh wow. Just learned a new bit of functionality.

 

It's actually quite cool for seeing who's active in certain threads, and it's a dead giveaway to when a topic is someone's hobbyhorse.

Wow, I remember that feature from the last version of IPB we ran more than 10 years ago. You used to be able to click on the number by a user's name and see all their posts from the topic.

Oh, I don't like this, so addictive. Too many names popping up from being prolific posters one day, then not seen for, in some cases, a number of years. Quite upsetting.

On the crazy statistic thread, for instance, I wouldnt have expected any other top posters:

But on other threads there are people posting on top positions who I never expected them to do this.

On desktop, if you hover over a thread, you see a wee circular down arrow. Click that and you see previews of the first, last unread (if applicable) and latest posts. Previews have a word limit, so may be truncated.
