Sebs back - and he’s renamed a corner where he’s stuck a load of bee hives at Suzuka.

Bring on the crofty puns - hope nobody gets stung by the corner this weekend.

Good cause. But the message will miss 90% of the people that will be watching any race at Suzuka. Only for them wondering why the kerbs are in a different color.

I'm sure the insects will be disappointed to learn about that.

Then that's 10% more people... and if it generates further questions of why then that gets converted into more people.

It's a bit of paint... So a cheap and clever bit of conversation and awareness building across 70 million viewers*... so that would be7 million more people   :D if we go by an arguably conservative finger-in-the-air number of 10%.

*On average tv audiences.

Fantastic thing for Seb to do. Top bloke and a great idea. Hopefully not too many get splattered on racing cars though.

Do we have to call it Buzzin’ Corner though? Then again, the previous corner is literally called First Corner, so it at less than some creativity.

Apart from fast cars racetracks much be great spaces for hives being so rural in many cases.

How can anyone not love Seb these days? Such a great project.

It’s even less effort than my AI Generated one earlier this year. Always the chance someone’s been carefully curating one too… so let’s go with no, let someone do a proper buildup thread

A nice addition to the Aramco advertisement.

Seriously though, bees are our friends, I hope the general public realises that before it's too late.

What kind of bees are they? I heard a news story that in some places there are now too many honey bees from all the private insect do-gooding and they're outcompeting all the other insects.

Hardly.
Down here in Brazil, the intensive use of pesticides on large monocultures has on current years wipeout millions of bees to the point it has started to affect even the honey businesses.

They could have the bees attack the drivers who don’t respect the track limits. Two birds with one stone.

I’ve read that too. Honey bees aren’t the best pollinators.

And now, in the ancient F1 tradition, we shall release the bees.

What are the best ones, then? It’s not wasps or hornets is it because I hate those guys. The yobboes of the insect world.

Sorry, wasps are up there;

"What insects pollinate?

The list of insect pollinators is long and includes many different species of bees, flies, wasps, beetles, butterflies and moths. Even species with a bad reputation such as houseflies and mosquitoes are important pollinators. "

from https://www.nhm.ac.u...ollination.html

we don't have humming-birds but them as well.

We've been seeing a lot of hornet-mimicing hoverflies this year just to confuse us

It’s the solitary bee species that are the best.

With all these hives around the circuit, how many bees will end up inside the car sidepods?

Just a thought…

I'm sure Ferrari have a Plan Bee to counter overheating problems caused by this.

Should have played Hive Talking.

Those kerbs are very Brands Hatch 1983 - I'm guessing the motivation for those was more to do with JPS sponsorship though.

Tbf, they’d do an awful lot better than the stewards.

Not to be confused with buzzin hornets. ;)

I do wonder if long unkempt grass would be an effective runoff material.
