I don't see why Marquez would waste one more year on a slow bike. He needs to remind everyone just of how damn good he is to put himself in the best position for 2025 where he can then pick his bike of choice.

He was 26 the last time he won the world title, he'll be 31 at the start of next year.

It makes complete sense for him to move on and try a different approach because there really is no sign things will improve soon.

I can't see him being on Gresini for long though, feels a stopgap move.

I would argue the Rossi example is actually supporting Marquez's move: after all, Rossi's last championship came when he was 30...

Marquez made sure of that. Marquez is such a goat he's not only winning titles for himself, he's also winning titles for Lorenzo

I hope that the fortunes of Marquez at Ducati are better than Rossi's were.

Will Gresini receive 2024 spec Ducatis? They're on year old machines at the moment, aren't they?

No, they'll have the 2023 bike, so the bike Pecco & Martin are riding with now.

Well we don'y know yet, still waiting for Gresini to make an announcement.

They may want to give Marc a 2024 spec bike, still the 2023 bike is no slouch!

We do know. Ducati has confirmed that there will only be 4 GP24s and Pramac gets two of them.

What we DO know is that Gresini had planned to run 2023 bikes and has a contract for it. I don't think it is certain at this point Marc won't get a 2024 one anyway, as contracs don't guarantee anything. I would also not be shocked if Morbidelli ended up getting a 2023 bike even if Pramac has contract for two up to date bikes. I could even see all three Ducati satellite teams getting one of each, since Bez, Marc and Martin are the three clearly best satellite Ducati riders.

It doesn't sound like it's a long term commitment anyway so Ducati has no incentive to change their plans and give him a 2024 bike.

I'm genuinely curious to find out how competitive (not if) he will be on that bike.

(his brother probably isn't )

Somewhat strange that he seem to believe Yamaha can be competitive again. Or has he given up? I have heard nothing about him changing teams.

From what I have read, he has given up: his comments after tests point to a lack of communication between team and riders, not unlike what has happened at Yamaha since Maverick (as far as I can remember, might be even more) and what has been happening at Honda too.

And yeah, it’s strange that one of the top 3-5 riders in Motogp hasn’t said anything about changing teams, when even his mediocre teammate found a way to the best bike in the current championship…
I was speculating recently that a possible explanation was that there’s no way out from his contract. After all, iirc, he signed with Yamaha when he didn’t have a lot of bargaining power, so maybe wasn’t able to put a performance clause in the contract? But yeah, baffling that he hasn’t even entered the conversation of 2024 team switches…

I like to see how great champions get on in new environments. Let's see how he gets on elsewhere.

I guess he could do a Vinales and "destroy" the bike by rev'ing it to the limiter and by that get ejected to freedom? I mean - there's a precedence :)
