Yeah. I think the main point is that the existing layouts at Silverstone are possibly too fast for the race durations FE wants to achieve with the current cars. If available sim laps and data from other series are anything to go by then the Silverstone National layout would be >180kph average speeds, some chunk ahead of Portland's 166kph. I don't think the international layout is much better. A better fit might be the Long National layout, but even then I suspect there would still be a temptation/necessity to slow things a little further by recreating the original Woodcote chicane or something. They could come up with something temporarily utilising the preserved Bridge section but that sounds.... expensive.
For Brand Hatch's layouts I estimate as likely being around 165kph for the Indy circuit, so would probably be viable (based on precedent) pretty much as it is. The full Brands Hatch GP layout is a bit long by FE standards at 3.9km and possibly a bit fast in an unmodified state (I'd estimate 175kph)... so could be pushing into new territory there.
There's also the fact that Silverstone is something of a pain to get to and has an ability to look quite deserted unless a pretty serious number of spectators turn up. And that's based on experience from when I used to live fairly nearby and visited quite frequently. Last time I went there for British GT I was quite disappointed with the overall spectator experience.
