I understood that this was open only to drivers from Southern Africa or resident there, and at some point they were restricted to 4 cylinder engines. Yet in 1963 Syd van der Vyver scored points in his Lotus 24 Climax V8. Was the engine rule ever enforced?

The issue of V8 engines in SA would not have been an issue until 1963 as V8 engines simply were not available/affordable?
