It's race day! Another installment in the Max Verstappen glory parade awaits, with the Dutchman on pole position and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc alongside. Troubled team Aston Martin have bizarrely locked out the second row, and there's a random assortment of Mercedes, McLarens, Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez further back. Hero of last Saturday Daniel Ricciardo is slumming it at the back with teammate Tsunoda.

What's going on today? We've already had a sprint and a sprint shootout, which established that Max Verstappen will indeed be hard to beat. As usual, it's hard to discern a pattern further back, and as usual the drivers have been complaining about the quality of the tyres limiting their strategy and enjoyment of their otherwise quite good lives.

Still, it's Interlagos so it'll be a beautiful, vibrant and somewhat decayed place for a motor race, exactly the kind of thing that made us fall in love with Grand Prix racing in the first place. Race underway at 5pm GMT, which I think is 2pm in Sao Paulo. Please add your comments and analysis and predictions below, and go easy on the opinions about Alonso and Ocon's collision on Saturday.

I sense even saying this that I’m making myself a hostage to fortune somehow, but Hamilton always reckoned 4th place is the worst place to start from in Interlagos, reckoned you were guaranteed to get hit.

With Hamilton 5th he is the most likely to hit him!

No it should be near the beginning, after Australia opens the season (and Africa, if that was a thing)

In the world of 500 GPs there's hardly ever gonna be fight for WDC/WCC at the end of the championship anyway. The only "good" thing about Abu Boring right now is that at least there's usually nothing at stake, other than fight for 7th or something in the constructors, so you can sort of watch it without paying any attention and laugh at the local oil barons paying ridiculous sums for no-show

I hope the Aston won't do anything stupid in the first lap.

Is it my fave race? I'm not sure what my fave race is to be honest, probably Spa because of the history and my visits there, but it's severely neutered now. Interlagos is certainly in my top 3 or 4.

Who will win? Voted 'don't know' because I was getting confused with the sprint qualifying - but yes, probably Max.

You need a heck of a coincidence to have P1 and P6 collide in T1.

But isn't Interlagos neutered too? There's asphalt runoff almost at every corner now. At least Spa has brought back some gravel traps recently.

It's sadly also one of the circuits with the most overpowered DRS. Albert Park has ludicrous 4 DRS zones but I don't feel they are as overpowered as the ones here.

My top three circuits are Suzuka, Silverstone and here.

However Suzuka tends to have fairly straightforward races, and Silverstone looks like a flat car park these days, so in terms of action, old school feel and good old gradients, I actually think this is my favourite.

Yeah, they're all neutered. I dunno what my fave race is anymore. Even the 'classics' are pretty much car parks now.

Yeah...Spa/Silverstone/Suzuka/Interlagos...I also have a soft spot for the A1/Redbull Ring...

It is possible but not something anyone would like to see, eg, P1 have a howler of a start with P6 have the best start but in a scenario like that a crash before T1 is more likely and quite dangerous too.

I know it's possible, just very improbable.

It's either P1 having a very bad start or P6 being out of control and not braking into T1 for whatever reason, but neither of which is something we see frequently in modern F1.

Fantastic circuit.

I actually liked the strange final chicane thing - it was pretty unique. Still, the modern circuit is brilliant too.

Not very intrigued about this race, as I fear it’s going to be all about taking care of tyre deg.
…which is much of what’s wrong with F1/Pirelli today.

It's sadly also one of the circuits with the most overpowered DRS. Albert Park has ludicrous 4 DRS zones but I don't feel they are as overpowered as the ones here.

DRS is overpowered here, and I generally hate it, but the fact that the two zones are consecutive, and the second detection point is ideally located means that there is a big chance of a driver repassing.

Interlagos might not be Spa or Suzuka, but I would take it over Bahrain in a heartbeat. It offers the same overtaking, if not more, without it feeling so "artificial".

Live timing has an audio clip where Ricciardo was told about a tail wind at T10. So I guess he was off the track there on his way to the grid.
