The factory Mustangs look cool with the illuminated horsie. I joked on reddit its so the other cars will know who hit them.
Back legs are the back wheels.
Class design.
Jp
Late to react on these posts, I had to go to bed shortly after halfway due to the time of the day and the effects of hearing the big block atmo cars for too long a time to deal with them any longer.
But the basic design of the Mustang is nothing entirely new at all. Something similar, using a horse head on the side had been used before in racing: The 1987 Saleen Mustang at Le Mans.

Just finally catched up with the last hour replay as I fell asleep right before the chaos.
Completely unacceptable for the caution to be so delayed, that could have been horrific. So happy we dodged a real bullet with that. Heart breaking to see Ricky Taylor just so affected....
And you cannot tell me that the Cadillac is not cursed somehow - that was edge of the seat, fate defying stuff.
This race is such a great end to the season. IMSA is utterly fascinating as always and looking so much forward to next year as well.

Just got a chance to see the last 2 hours.
LOVE the fact that CGR and Caddie get a win on their swansong !!! (thanks in part to Scotty D and some amazing mid race driving)
The CGR lighting malfuntion at the end had me in absolute hysterics !!!
(Reminds me of the time Chip was driving his cute little 2012 Honda CR-Z out of the speedway after Dario won the 500. Andy Stelantris had reprogrammed the headlights to strobe after the victory and they wouldn't stop strobing even when he got to the hotel and switched the car off !!!!!)
SO pleased that AO squeeked out the GTD PRO after that bizzare cabling issue.
Huge thanks to Daniel Serra and his steady and smooth run to second.
Fun season and, as always, an AMAZING and wonderful PetitLeMans.
Thanks to all that come by and share it with us !!

“Get behind me Satan!” for once and get a big win. Penske Perfection in the end did what it was supposed to do and crushed the competition for that title. Nice to see Rexy get a crown to go with the gold teeth.

Another series that I would like to see add a couple of races.
Mid Ohio to start, and Lime Rock near here.
My comment Fri (accidentally deleted when trying to quote) about no heartbreak for the 10 (after the last 4 championship finales) didn't exactly age well...
Close call for the 01 with the headlight recovery.

Yelloly out at BMW, but joining another top-class prototype effort “very soon”:

Colin with the Daytona winner's Rolex, that's a flex.
Did they have to give them back in 2023? I know he's also won in LMP2 so presumably he's got a few.

That’s a sharp lineup.
Yeah, assuming HRC can engineer a car well, and MSR have come back strong; if HRC haven't lost pace on the development work then that will be a pair of very quick cars next year.

The only downside is that Honda still won't go for a dual IMSA/WEC program. I get that Acura isn't a global brand, but I don't think anyone would really care, and I would love to see how good those cars would be against the Hypercars. I have a suspicion that the ARX-06 is the GTP/LMDh most suited to Le Mans, given how well it goes at the higher-speed IMSA tracks.

Question I should know the answer to already but do IMSA and WEC run the same tires? I know they're on Michelin and there are a few compounds available, but is a Hard in IMSA identical to a Hard in WEC? Wondering how much tire management data can directly transfer from one series to another. Seems to work for Penske at least.

Could be someone in GM marketing got reminded of the song by the Michelin ad and decided they really wanted to use it too. Or the same marketing company did both companies and someone there is a Chemical Brothers fan...

Kids toys?
I still regret that I was never able to find the Hotwheels Porsche 917 LH to put next to my Whizzwheels Porsche 917 and Ferrari 512S. Awesome neat little display with kids toys....

Bamber replaces Derani at Action Express. Fredrick Vesti will be the 3rd driver for longer races.
Any news on where Pipo is headed? Has his star been dulled a bit? My impression is that Aitken came in and was just as quick and a bit less crashy.

Posted 23 October 2024 - 13:22
The funny thing is, Bamber also strikes me as quick but crash prone. Maybe it's just the lingering impression of the Spa shunt, but between those two I'd stick with Pipo as I think he has more raw pace.

I haven't heard anything, but I was thinking that perhaps a WEC drive, maybe at Hyundai could make a lot of sense, especially if he'd like to do a race in Brazil during his career.

With all of these driver moves, one thing I'm always curious about is a teammate pace comparison over multiple races. Like what is Aitken's average race pace over a weekend or a season compared to Pipo? How did Button do in the Jota? Mick keeps pushing for F1 but was he even particularly quick in the Alpine other than his final stint at Fuji? I've seen posts here and there on reddit with deep dives on average pace, but it'd be cool to see something aggregated for IMSA and for WEC with all the prototype lineups.

That's a very intimidating line-up from Honda.
EDIT: Room for 1 more too, since the 60 has a 4 driver line-up (Blomqvist/Braun/Dixon/Rosenqvist) but the 93 only has 3 right now (Van der Zande/Yelloly/Palou).
