Trulli-Briatore. Or is that an other type of 'fit'?
Good question.
Also: thank for all your “likes.”

there have been few better "fits" in racing than Clark-Chapman.
That was a very good one.
IMHO, Senna-McLaren/Dennis was at least equal.
Won’t mention another that comes to mind in order not to spoil my good mood.

Why? Max has the status of a crasher, while the data shows that he is the person with the least collissions and least amount of car damage since 2018. I will not provide the list of the damages your name driver provided in 2023 alone...

OK, not a "free" win but it helped him immensely so the original claim doesn't really hold.
Max passed Charles on track after a penalty. Ferrari did not want to pit Charles because his tires were just 5 laps and it would take too much time to heat making him lose much more time. He was still in the lead with fresh tires. Max came from far behind and took both drivers in front. And somehow Charles tires were still good to fight and overtake Perez. In a Red Bull. That was a lucky win. Sure.

Indeed (replying to F1Frog). I was really just wanting to disabuse the notion that Clark was so successful in spite of Lotus! As is so often the case it was the combination, and there have been few better "fits" in racing than Clark-Chapman.
Stewart-Tyrrell?

Trying to work out how one of the best drivers of his era could be so successful “in spite” of driving what were consistently the best cars of that era.

Whatever you want to call it. Going back to the original post - the safety car was a misfortune for Leclerc.Max passed Charles on track after a penalty. Ferrari did not want to pit Charles because his tires were just 5 laps and it would take too much time to heat making him lose much more time. He was still in the lead with fresh tires. Only sidereally pertinent to this thread, a title of another one concerning Max (which I find werra myoozing ), from earlier in his career:
"Is Verstappen really any better than Jean-Éric Vergne?"
