The time it takes to clear the safety car is a real blight on motorsport these days - sportscar/GT racing seems particularly bad for it as well...

They had a safety car earlier when a driver just spun, there wasn’t even a wreck and it stayed out for ages.

And I thought there was stupid lap time requirement for the INV class at least?

Instead of this nonsense I watched the New Zealand GP event this weekend and it was neat.

The rain saved the race. The minimum pitstop time is great for the Ams but takes a lot away from the Pro race.

I feel like Ratel deserves immense credit for coming up with GT3 and GT4, which have finally ended the ridiculous cycle of mini-booms, large busts, and 6 car grids in GT classes.  But the SRO-run series are definitely not as good at putting on a compelling race as other series using the same rules, but catering less to the Am-side of the drivers.

Ford did say that they thought the overall balance of costs, technical freedoms and achievable publicity that they as a company want from an EV programme is - currently - better achieved by something like the SuperVan than any of the EV series offerings to date.

The timing of this is really maximising the publicity element of that, and fair play to them.

Just finished my rewatch of this years Bathurst 12 hours, a great race and was a crazy race first race i have ever watched where it rains dead on the half way point lol. Some cool lighting shots on top of the mountain was actually surprised they carried on racing considering how serious they take thunderstorms in the USA.  Aus gets similar dangerous weather conditions. that aside some great driving skills on show by all of them in very tricky wet conditions
