The local council have just approved an expansion of the MB F1 team HQ at Brackley, not without protests

My question is how can you square away the cost cap with increasing site headcount from 1,400 to 1,900 in the next 5 years??

Same as Red Bull's expanded and Aston Martin's new Campus: It's not just F1.

But on the subject, with teams capped by the "Capital Expenditure" on expanding/improving their infrastructure, how does this work with new entrants? Audi is limited by what they can spend as well, because they have bought Sauber.

But Andretti, could they just build the greatest facilities of all teams right now, and then when (if) they get the license to compete say "Great, and luckily we already have these amazing facilities to locate our team in and operate from"?

And in that way, what would hold for exampe Mercedes back from building all new facilities for their Maybach brand and then sell/transfer their F1 license to them and go racing that way? Or even just buy those facilities for cheap from Maybach?

By doing more than Formula 1 business there.

They may well do more than F1 there but that begs a question - if al 1,900 people can enjoy the planned "street" on the site to mingle and relax how can the "F1 only" ones be kept from talking shop to the non F1 ones?

Two sittings for lunch maybe - the same applies to the non F1 people at the Ferrari tech. centre.

BTW the actual MB F1 company headcount in 2022 was 1,114 people at a cost of £84K per head. So at 1,900 people the labour bill alone would be around £160M versus the current cost cap of about £110M total.

Not sure why everyone seems to think people that work in F1 are so obsessed that it's all they ever talk about. They're mostly normal people, chatting about their normal lives.

Another thing is that salaries for most non-engineers are excluded. Toto mentioned at one point that the admin and accounting department since the budget cap is now one the biggest departments because of all the extra work involved. In typical F1 fashion of course.

I don't think anyone is trying to prevent or end shop talk.  What's the point?  An idea is just an idea.  It's one thing for Mario, head of road car aero at Ferrari, to chat about an idea with Anthony, head of Ferrari F1 aero, it's another for Mario to say 'hey Anthony, I got distracted profiling side mirror casings and even though I have no access to anything needed to do so, I drew up this new front wing end plate, what do you think?'
