It's funny to think as a kid I loved looking and drawing the drivers helmets 

 

Now they're a complete an utter mess, great for the instagram culture but awful to try and replicate

My all time favourite helmet is a classic Häkkinen one

Modern helmets are far too bitsy, looks like a kid got loose with a box of markers. Last modern one I liked was Vettel's asymmetrical German flag one.

Do the drivers pay themselves for all these helmets/designs?

Wonder what it costs to have one designed and painted….

It can very, I paid mine 500€ but it's on the low side. Count 1k, maybe 2k for the designs of F1 drivers.

Bit, the designers will use them as portfolio, so the drivers probably don't pay full price. Pocket change for most of them anyway

Doesn't it cost a lot more to have a helmet made? aside from the design and painting, i thought it was at least 4 to 8 k euros for the complete helmet
