It’s off season in f1 and it’s time for debating to be more intense. This topic I want everyone debates about the car. I’ve seen a former topic about who is the greatest drivers in F1 and it has been fascinating and interesting. We’ve debated about Redbulls Rb19 compared them to MP4/4 ,or FW14B. I want everyone to enjoy this debate, I think this topic will be very interesting and will create a lot of fires or even choas( who knows).

I'd argue the 2014 Merc (W05) is the best car of the 21st century - at least in terms of laptime. While it was less reliable than what Mercedes brought to the party in say 2020, it was never once beaten on merit in a straight fight. Only when they had calamities.

I'd argue the Williams FW15c should be on the list. It was a better car than the FW14b, and was so much better than the competition that Alain Prost got away with winning the Championship despite visibly putting in nowhere near the level of effort that would be considered appropriate for a Championship-winning campaign.

This will be closed quickly. But if the Mods/Hosts do, I'll reopen the thread (or if the Mods/Hosts would be so kind themselves). Because this does offer some great potential for discussions I'd say.

Looks to me as being the follow-up of the discussion I opened a few weeks ago about if either the '88 MP4/4 or the '23 RB19 was the most dominant car ever in F1 based on the fact that both cars had lost only a single race in the season, but given the differences between a 16 race season and a 22 race season and the races for both cars in their season it not being crystal-clear which was the dominant one.

Edit:   I wished the stat contained the years in which more recent cars had been used. Certain types and names don't ring a bell for me instantly.

I think the answer isn't even included in the poll - the 2014 Mercedes.

I genuinely think, in race trim, we only really saw it extended to its full extent for the final 10 laps of the Bahrain Grand Prix - and they pulled 7 seconds on the third place Force India in two laps.

The 1961 Ferrari 156. The title contenders, Hill and von Trips, had not exactly looked like superstars before that season.

I once asked a friend who he thought was better, Hill or von Trips. He said: "Moss."
