Another car with 90% exposed carbon fibre...
Although ironically it's probably the best looking Alpine since A521

The live stream showed two cars. One car was uncovered in Enstone with the team, and the other in the formal launch with Harman and Famin (the pictures above). I didn't get a chance to screenshot that other car.

5/5 black, bare carbon based liveries with highlight colours. The FIA needs to step in on this before Bahrain - it's going to look ridiculous on TV.

Okay, this is getting a bit beyond a joke now.

'Pink livery' and 'blue livery'
Mate they're both black with highlight colours.

So much waffling before the actual car was shown and my takeaway is that the WEC car has a better livery than the primarily carbon F1 car, livery design is dead in the water as of now. I await the constant commentators errors when identifying cars on track because the only distinct design so far is the Stake/Kick one but even that has black.
These F1 liveries all look like testing liveries...and I don't mean that as a good thing.
And people who say the black "looks good" - no it doesn't, not when most the grid has the exact same bloody thing!

Awful livery.
Seriously they need a designer to come up with these?
Posted 07 February 2024 - 14:18
mandatory paint weight time or something surely?

Nice traditional black Enstone testing livery I can't wait until we see the real livery at the first race.

What an eyesore.
Should be a ****ing rule that at least 80% of the car needs to be painted.
Posted 07 February 2024 - 14:29
I guess this render is closer to the truth (but still probably differs from the real thing)
there are more details: nose appears to be narrower, fhe floor edges are new, mirrors have small deflectors

Mate they're both black with highlight colours.
If Pierre or Esteban get their other halves pregnant this year, this would make a cracking gender reveal party prop.

According to Sean Bull on Twitter (graphic designer who worked on it) - this is it. 'An art car for the whole season'

It is sad to see when you think how beautiful the first Alpine was:

All the liveries so far (and yes, I include McLaren), look like backmarker liveries from the 90s. It's actually pretty disappointing.
Hey Liberty, what Value is this garbage adding to F1?
Posted 07 February 2024 - 14:52
What livery?
Posted 07 February 2024 - 15:09
has mclaren released a livery?

Another car that resembles more towards Mclaren design than RB. Why doesn't more people copy RB? Everyone going for the scooped sidepods

Maybe the McLaren one is easier to work out how it fits together? It's a lot more than just the sidepod shapes.
But I'm no aerodynamicist, so that's just my hunch rather than any actual technical knowledge.

Alpine had scooped sidepods before Mclaren did and even before Aston. This is the A522 from 2022:

Someone on a different forum pointed out this interesting looking radiator opening. There is also speculation of an s-duct device.

The way carbon reflects light makes the livery even worse, as can be seen in post nr. 38 of this thread;

I do too. The fading on the blue looks cool. They brought the A back on the engine coweling bc everyone said they liked it. Now they hate it.I like it

Looks like a version of what Ferrari had last year (https://maxf1.net/wp...by-MAXF1net.jpg), though quite a bit more agressive.

I think the livery looks fine. Black goes well both with the blue and pink. I like it.
The wide nose (which is even wider than '23 version) is strange. All other lead cars (at least from '23) have narrow nose, Alpine did the opposite. This is definitely not the trend. But if RB, Ferrari, Mc will come up with similar designs for '24, then probably that's fine. If not, then I'm not sure (as an armchair expert) if it is the right direction.

To me, these engineering points are worth much more than a paint job on a tub. I think the paint job looks good enough. (I agree could be better tho)
The car has aggressive features it has a wider nose, very narrow rear gearbox, where the floor is very flat. It looks very much like a development of 23 car, tho, even if the team claims that the car is nearly 100% new. It means the car has all new components...

I think we haven't seen everything yet, I'm expecting more details to be uncovered in Bahrain
Posted 08 February 2024 - 18:28
One thing mentioned last year was how they were going to revamp the internal cooling system so that is something they have worked on which we cannot see. There's also the floor of the car which we can't see.
Harman also said something curious. He said that they moved the exhaust and wanted to make sure they were not cooling the exhaust system because it was wasting energy in the airflow.

looks like more and more cars are featuring a wider nose this season
