Putting too much credence in anything that Briatore (or Ecclestone) says is always a bit risky.

On the contrary, he once said: "You don't race faster if you colour your hair." That might be the only time he was right, though.

I suspect it's unlikely to still be called Alpine by then

Right choice with the awful, Frankenstein and costly Engines in 2026.

Those are Monster Engines and if ur behind, u probably, spend 100 of millions just to catch up and even that can't be guaranteed.

Whoever created 2026 engines needs to be fired

So Mercedes gearbox - acceptance of their mounting points and gear ratios as well I guess. So long tradition of Enstone-built gearboxes has ended. I can't remember back in Lotus days when they were powered by Mercedes engine - if they still had their own gearboxes or Mercedes'.

The reports say that they want to go back to their own gearbox in 2027, Merc gearbox is only for the first year to make the engine change easier.

It was the manufacturers - including Renault - who collectively wanted them

That gearbox was Enstone's.

Severe,... but this misfortune of the Renault F1 team kicked off when the Renault F1 team was called Alpine, I think.

I don't like the idea that a Formula One team is named after this undersized old rally squad. It had nearly nothing to do with F1.

For Alpine, this was also a sudden change. Since then, Alpine has not produced a car of F1 glamour.

If Renault was serious about turning Alpine into a luxury sports car brand such as Lambo or Ferrari, Alpine would need much more funding.

I believe Alpine does not need to be an F1 brand. I love the old A310, the refreshed 310, and the sportive rally car brand.

To survive in F1, going for Mercedes was a better option...

Does anyone know the details of whether or not Ocon and Gasly are running different spec cars?

They are running different spec cars since China.

Alpine decided to not invest heavily on big components like tub.

I think those reddit report are some what inaccurate.

He did damage his floor at Suzuka at the second restart.
