Yep. TBH having the races on a Saturday are a win for me, as it means I don't have to go to work on Monday having had not a whole lot of sleep. The races start at 2am and 4am Melbourne time, the Bahrain one being particularly brutal!Somebody from Autosport explained a while ago that this means that Bahrain has to be Saturday too, as the two events are back-to-back and there's an official FIA regulation that there has to be a minimum 7 day gap between each Grand Prix.
Edit: Just saw testing times. GG Red Bull. SeASoN OvEr!!11!1!1!

Only 20 votes for the F3 races?! They usually have the best on-track action of the weekend!
The season starts here in the F3 thread: https://forums.autos...son/?p=10498621

Compared to F2 the numbers don't seem too bad, especially considering F2 is finally introducing new car...Only 20 votes for the F3 races?! They usually have the best on-track action of the weekend!

So no, my excitement level isn’t very high.

I’m American, so I’m still deflated over the Andretti business. I’ve been following Haas since they started, but only until there is something better for a “home team”. Now it looks like there won’t be anything else at all, and Haas is apparently still Haas.
So no, my excitement level isn’t very high.
Not American, but losing Andretti stings... you could support Florida man Sargeant at Williams, or LA-born Zak Brown the CEO of McLaren.
Haas is a total disaster. Not even Gene Haas supports that team.

Couldn't give a crap. This isn't recognisable as Formula 1 any more. Might watch something with a little integrity, such as banger racing.

Enough of a crap to comment.

Sigh - will watch the GP though probably only parts of it, because I am a human who despite whatever dish they serve up, I keep eating it, because I always have.
Honestly not excited about it at all though.

Perhaps I'm being dense but do you mean maximum? Otherwise holding the race on Sunday (IE 8 days later) wouldn't breach the minimum number of days?

I did mean minimum. It's a minimum presumably because the FIA wants to give drivers and teams a certain amount of time to recover between Grands Prix.
The latest the Saudi race can be held is Saturday, 9 March as Ramadan starts at dawn the following day and that is important to the race organizers.
The Bahrain race has to be scheduled before Jeddah so you need to find a day that is at least 7 days before 9 March. Hence the Saturday 2 March date. It's the immovable Saudi race that causes Bahrain to shift a day.

Cheers for the clarification! It being Ramadan the day after went completely over my head.

I forgot to mention Sargeant. He hasn’t provided much hope either. Well, maybe yesterday.

I reckon F2 will be a much better championship this year than F1
Do the hideously rear-winged F1 wannabe mini-me tanks (and with DRS, in a bloody spec formula... lol) still do the three races or whatever? I gave up on it when that nonsense appeared. Antonelli looks the most exciting prospect in a while, so may be worth a look to see how he goes.

Not if Antonelli drives as people expect. It will be the same problem. 1 winner.

Zero chance for that. F2 doesn't give the advantages F1 does.

They only did that for single year

There a question that needs to be asked who will be the guy we need to guess the number of laps before the leader laps him as we got no rookies this year

Good point. I think that the game should be : "Guess the number of laps before the leader laps .. Sergio Perez."
- Edit : Sorry that should be : "HLWITTLP" (how long will it take to lap Perez)

They only did 3 races for one year before getting rid of it.
That said, the new car looks dumb with the wing to be honest.
Overall, i'm not looking forward to this season in F1 particularly, and having testing and the season opener be Bahrain doesn't improve that, if it was Australia i'd be more up for it
