I don't care what side you're on in the AlphaTauri team orders debate, you can't react like this. This is *dangerous*:

Hence why he's never getting a RBR seat. He seems absolutely erratic and childish like a kid having a tantrum.

I always wonder why they react like this when it's not even for points. Total non story if they don't react. Nobody cares.

They have themselves to blame for that. But I don't see the footage.

This guy need an nice ass whooping.
People who do road rage need that, they have to remember they can act crazy as they want but their is always someone more crazy than them.
Who does he think he is ?

I had sympathy for Tsunoda's frustration, and I think a lot of others did too, but that sympathy sadly evaporates when he responds in such a disproportionate manner. If he had kept his emotions under control, he'd have come out of this looking like a team player who was screwed by his team. Having responded like he did, he looks petulant and takes the spotlight off his team in the process.

Ricciardo on the radio: "Wha... what the fu... — I'll save it. He's a ****ing helmet."
Tsunoda didn't say anything. He let his driving do the swearing.

At the very least, this warrants a call to the stewards' room for Tsunoda, IMHO.

And don't forget that Laurent Mekies hasn't shown he's good at managing drivers as a Sporting Director (Leclerc/Vettel, Leclerc/Sainz). He may be a good engineer, but he's also the man who tried to use Karun Chandhok's anaysis to clear Vettel after Montreal 2019.

Didn't look that dangerous. Childish, sure.
It's dangerous because surely Ricciardo wasn't expecting it *after the flag*.

For context: The team ordered a driver swap near the end of the race, so Tsunoda (on the hard tyre) had to let Ricciardo (on softs) through. Tsunoda refused for a lap or so before the swap was made. They tried to pass Magnussen but failed. Tsunoda wasn't happy and Ricciardo stayed ahead of him at the chequered flag.

In fairness, it's purely a marketing team, and Danny Ric is the face of it. Getting Danny Ric ahead likely helps fit the narrative they need to play out. That doesn't excuse the tantrum from Tsunoda, although I can understand why he'd be unhappy with such an inane TO.

Proper toys out of the pram, but yeah, not that dangerous I would say.

Yuki just ripped up his contract right there. They really should just put Lawson in the car after that complete idiotic red mist moment. Even if the swap was not really neccesary, this is not the way to react.

Posted 02 March 2024 - 17:35
Oh please it's not dangerous. Bit childish indeed but he is right to be pissed at getting screwed by the team. Maybe they should stop blatantly favoring Ricciardo.
He is right to be pissed, but not doing road rage towards his teammate who did nothing wrong.
He is lucky Ricciardo is kind.

To add, because Tsunoda waited a couple of laps to execute the order, Verstappen caught up with the pair to lap them. All in all, too many laps were lost this way and due his initial refusal, they probably weren't swapped back.

It should also be noted that Yuki was up the road early in the race, but strategic mismanagement put them together on the circuit. While not justifying his actions, RB made a big mess of his race prior to the call.

I can see why Yuki is mad and it would have been fair for Dani to give the position back when he failed to overtake Magnussen but...
1. It's for P13
2. You still can't behave that way even if you have every right to be angry

Right - it wasn't even for points. The team scored an own goal to resort to team orders. Now both drivers are unhappy.

Tsunoda is in his 4th season, he really should have learned to regulate his emotions better by now. It's immature, and it won't do him any favours outside of the car.

If Ticktum did that, everybody would call for a race ban
Tsunoda will never race for a top team anyway, occasionally fast, but such an immature driver.
Think the most dangerous part of it wasn't the dive-bomb, but when he went full throttle alongside Ricciardo with flat-spotted tyres and nearly lost the car.
Still the most exciting thing about the race tho.

And this is why he will never put a foot in a Red Bull. Childish. Nevertheless I think Ricciardo should have given him the place in the last corner. That would be team work.

The strategists must be fired right now. It's not Yuki's fault nor Daniel's. It's just that the entire team is collapsing.
