Exciting because of Formula 2. For F1: I'll watch it and am moderately excited purely because Jeddah is a spectacular, but also dangerous imho, race track. But F1 is boring these days and I hate that there are just 20 cars, F2 looks to be a very exciting championship this season (F3 as well). Prema struggling with car set-up adds to the excitement in F2: how soon are they going to come to grips with their new car? Will Zane Maloney continue his great form? How will the Red Bull junior internal fight at Campos (Hadjar-Marti) evolve. Will Bortoleto be able to mount a title challenge in his rookle season? Lots to look forward to in F2.

I'd be more excited if Jos was going to be there.

On this circuit, the type of accident I've always feared is the one that killed Jeff Krosnoff and similar which had luckily lesser consequences, the one that ended Dario Franchitti's career.

Fortunately catchfences are of a much higher standard, and we have the halo. I’m slightly more concerned about a blind t-bone situation resulting in Zanardi style injuries.

Mick tested it and walked away.
There are no dangerous tracks with these cars.
Tad untrue, isn't it? Mick tested it and couldn't get out of the car under his own steam, nor could he race the next day.
Saudi is a dangerous track.

The blind t-bone is a huge risk and we have come very close to some very bad accidents here.

The worst crash we've had in recent years was at Bahrain, which is one of the most sanitised, safest circuits on the calendar.
Saudi was a bit dodgy in 2021, but the problems were rectified (mostly around sight lines), and last year the most challenging corner was netuered, so now it's a pretty standard modern circuit. I don't think anybody hit the wall last year over the whole weekend?
Let's be realistic here; Eau Rouge/Raidillon is much more dangerous than anything Saudi has.

True for Bahrain, but it doesn’t matter how sanitised the rest of the circuit is, that was one close up bit of dangerous barrier.
The sorts of really bad accidents you mention at Spa are much more the sort of thing that can happen at Jeddah. Cars running into slow or stopped cars that were hidden from view, whether that’s by a corner or a crest.

Any barrier close to the track is dangerous then, given you never know when a car might be tipped into it.
We might as well stop motor sport if we deem this as unacceptable risk.
The blind sightlines in Jeddah have been rectified, so it really is not the problem it was in 2021.
I'm not defending the race - I think it should be binned off the calendar for many reasons - but I'm just worried to see the lack of appetite for any kind of risk creeping into motorsport fanbases, when that aspect is probably what appealed to many of us in the first place and helped us put drivers on a pedestal above other sportspeople.

Not at all. Unprotected Armco is a lot more dangerous than tecpro or SAFER.
I don’t think anyone has said the risks are unacceptable at Jeddah, but they are there. The blind sight lines have been eased in some places but not eliminated. There are countless places where a car might come across an obstruction at over 200 km/h with no chance to react to it.
It’s hard to eliminate risk entirely, and even with super safe cars and tracks we have nowadays we still have grave injuries and occasional deaths. Much less than in the past, but I’ve seen enough fatalities to not want to see that again. But the risks are still there, which is why I still think you need a bit of guts to be a racing driver.

If I check the results of the poll, it looks like a lot of bitter F1 "fans" voted.
