I used to follow the World Endurance Championships. Even went down to the Bol'd Or in the 90s, camped at the end of the Mulsanne, knew not to camp in the dips in case it rained, and it did one year, most of the tents were under water.

It used to be a team and an individual championship and I knew what was happening and who rode. Now unless I really, really look I have no idea who rides and where they finished. They don't even publish in the results who the riders were. I have no interest in the championship any more.

Does anyone know why they abolished the riders championship and why they don't even publish the results now with who rode the bikes?

Thanks mdvineng, it shows my point. The tables show some of the riders, but it is bike/team based. Some riders miss races, some ride for different teams and the table doesn't show that. In the past there was a riders championship, up to 2000 I think, but not now. These days you barely know who rode, especially if they are not regulars in the series.

I really liked the endurance bikes of the past, there was a lot of innovation and interesting machines, such as the big Laverda, the TZ750 with lights on, the Japauto Hondas with their massive fairings and Elf even raced a hub steered Honda prior to entering the GPs. But I also think it's important to know the riders, nowadays it just seems they are an after thought in the championship. I know more about the Red Bull rookies on identical machines wearing identikit leathers than the top rank endurance racers.
