Contrary to what the British media would like you to believe, Alonso has always given bonuses to his crew members during his career.

Source for the "British media" statement? I read Autosport every week and Motor Sport every month, and watch highlights on Channel 4, and don't recall any suggestion that he doesn't.

Thank you for responding with the link, jwill. So one newspaper, rather than "the British media," prints quotes from one mechanic, saying Alonso gave money to his crew at McLaren. Nowhere does the article suggest he didn't at other teams. So why do you say "Contrary to what the British media would like you to believe, Alonso has always given bonuses to his crew members during his career"?

So to clarify the chicken crossed the road for a new job.

Why did the chicken want a new job?

He's had his cake, now he must sleep in it.

Nowhere in the article does it mention that Alonso has been giving bonuses to his crew throughout his F1 career. It's easier to run this baseless bribery narrative by quoting someone who is speculating rather than doing any sort of journalism. Why else do you think the previous poster said he can imagine Fernando handing out brown paper envelopes of cash after a race weekend like he did at McLaren? He obviously read that story at some point. The British media has made Alonso to be out a villain for many years, and if you don't believe that, then there is nothing left to discuss.

Ah, the evil "British media" strike again!!

I don't believe it and now we don't have to discuss it anymore.  Win-win.

While I agree that the article is not representative of the British media (I've several times posted against stereotyping all the media from a country), the article is written in a way which makes you think it was a completely exceptional and unique situation.

Steady on - we'll burn that bridge when we come to it.

I wish I could have seen Christian Horner's face when he saw/found out about the manner in which Newey was unveiled at Aston

Horner: “It wasn’t a surprise”.

Also Horner: “they chose to celebrate it perhaps slightly prematurely”.

Saw the comments. Is the battle between the titans, meaning Lawrence Stroll vs Christian Horner, starting now? Stroll will win, tho.

never the less, this kind of comments makes me recall Newey’s previous attempt to go to Jaguar. I think because EJ is in between the business is the difference condition. plus, Horner said he wish Newey well and said about Newey is still working on RB17.

Eddy Jordan on the Formula For Success podcast:

“My belief is that, and I must say this beyond any doubt - I wasn't maybe going to say this - but I would say that the arranging of the Adrian Newey release from Red Bull was, for me, probably one of the greatest professional cool things that I've ever done.”

“It is possibly the finest thing that I've ever done. And the reason I say that is because it was arranged and coordinated in such an elegant way that I feel very proud about.

“I feel very proud about Red Bull. I feel very proud about myself and my actions there, and I feel incredibly proud about Adrian and how he managed that situation.”

Newey and Fallows fell out catastrophically and don’t even acknowledge each other in the paddock - if Newey is joining then Fallows will be gone before he steps through the door

To close the circle, Dan Fallows is leaving AM….

An Aston Martin speedboat maybe? Surely there's bound to be some wealthy Sheik somewhere willing to pay through the nose if it's a limited issue.

I wonder if the passing of Eddie Jordan will lit an extra spark in Newey in a bid to honor his friend (and manager) with his first car for what still is Eddie's original team.

Same for the people over there that were already working there in Eddie's days.

That's a good point. I was feeling a little bad for Newey because it seems they were pretty close, spending lots of time together in Cape Town. But I'm sure he'll be swapping plenty of stories with those that have worked with the team since Eddie's early days which is nice.

Love the shamrock tribute on the car this weekend. Hopefully they can get a decent result for him!

Crafty of Eddie to steer Adrian towards his former team!

Newey certainly feels it. i think it will change what he does and how. i think Newey will put more time into the current car.
