100 years ago, the Aston Clinton hill-climb, which had run from 1904, ended after the RAC withdrew its permit in 1925 along with those for other motorsport speed events on the public highway on the UK . A few years back now, that ban on the use of public roads for racing etc was finally lifted, one of the few thing for which we can thank Prime Minister David Cameron. The hill-climb gave its name to the Aston Martin marque after Lionel Martin won the event.
It is now planned to revive the event in May of 2025 as a show event, perhaps matching the nearby Kop hill-climb and show which has a similar history. Should be a good day out for lovers of motoring from that early era.
