As we had a thread for the Nürburgring 24H, let's have one for Spa

Starting grid: https://www.enduranc... de départ.pdf

Starting drivers (en francais, but you can make the car with the driver out) : 24 H. de Spa - La grille et la liste des pilotes au départ - Endurance Info (endurance-info.com)

Would you be surprised that rain is expected during the night?

I'm here, for the moment it's hot and sunny.
However I'm prepared for heavy showers and even thunderstorms.

Another artifically extended SC period... all for one car in the gravel.

It actually ended much faster than I thought! haha

First Porsche is only P16?

And are still 16th. Based on the commentary seemed like they were at a loss to explain the lack of competitiveness.

TIL learned the CEO of Crowdstrike is racing a car sponsored by Crowdstrike in an event sponsored by Crowdstrike. Good to be the king I guess

(He does have good results over the years so maybe I'm just jealous)

And he had the power to make IMSA adjust its schedule so the Spa 24H didn't clash with The Glen

Thunderstorm warnings are active in the Spa area. Good chance of various periods of heavy rain/storms overnight, possibly leading to red flag conditions. Possibility of fog in the morning too.

Light rain closing in on the circuit now too

Not sure when I read about that last time, but that was in an effort to show how it is very often not an indication of anything.

Except if I misunderstand as I am thinking of covering a car when recovering it, and not hiding it from spectators while a driver is still in it.

There is something about that double waved and "be prepared to stop" that very few does follow.

There were double yellows being waved. The driver of the Ferrari was trying to reach a safe space, on the right... but it's crazy to crawl on the track at that speed, never mind trying TO CROSS it...

In French, they're saying that if they've showed the images, it's because the drivers are doing well. France Racing says the drivers are OK:

La Ferrari commence à prendre feu, heureusement on apprend rapidement que les pilotes vont bien.

Translation: The Ferrari begins to catch fire, happily we learn quickly that the drivers are doing well.

There were double yellow flags. Besides, I'm sure race control had already started, or was about to start, a full course yellow countdown from 10 to 0, or from 20 to 0, or from 30 to 0. "There is a big hazard on the track. Be prepared to be prepared to be prepared to slow down to a safe speed, soon."

There's 10 drivers that I counted who should be pulled from this race and have several months off, minimum. Driving towards 2 stopped cars at full speed with yellows out. Let's see if SRO has any sense.

Wow, that's horrendous. Drivers blatantly ignoring yellows.

The FIA investigation after Bianchi's accident at Suzuka basically concluded that drivers don't slow down (enough) for yellow flags, and that's why it recommended the introduction of a speed limit in every section where yellow flags are being displayed. That was ten years ago...

Ow on earth did that driver decide to jerk to the left when he saw the one in front passing the stranded car at ease on the right. He was at least 4 car lengths behind. In my opinion enough time to not react like a scared dog. No disrespect.

I think the stopped car was hidden by the two cars in front. And they can't see through that concrete pit barrier either.

This is another thing I am torn on.

"Oh, no images is shown, this is probably near fatal or fatal".

I am not sure that is that much better.
