I liked Lewis finishing on 3 wheels, pulling that off was great to see. Obviously didn't like to see him get the flat tyre, but loved to see the cool head and  bringing it home

It’s great hearing Max’s cool engineer commiserating his young charge with ‘He’s a lucky boy’ and sounding quite amused. It all has a good natured ‘Curses! Foiled again’ cartoon quality to it al. I don’t think they could quite believe it either.

The fact that he made it all the way back and had no idea he won the race made that even sweeter. When they shouted at him that he won and he realizes. One of my favorite moments ever.

I remember getting lost in championship maths at the age of ten after that race 😂

They went and got it! Also the Santander trophy disintegrated in his hands.

And that time in Brazil in 2021 when he wanted to visit Maldonado in Venezuela.

That was the one I was hinting towards! ;P

Still didn't send anyone to the hospital.

That time when Max emerged, waved to the crowd and went for some checks, which he passed with flying colours you mean?

it's a sport so there is a  lot of trash talking there.

The race engineer has a very hard job so if they try to sell a message to their driver I am fine. I like GP for instance that he is not shy to tell Max he is wrong when the time asks for it.

I think there is a lot of mutual respect between the race teams for Max, Lewis, Leclerc etc - but they won't publicly acknowledge it.

Talking of Lewis Hamilton and bedtime, we’ve got this to read to our little one https://www.amazon.c...2f36f748&nodl=1

They’re really good books, basically they put the stories of famous people into a child-friendly storybook…we’ve got a handful of them. The books range from Rafa Nadal to Mother Theresa.

Yep they are terrific books, my little grandson has the Lewis one and the Senna one and loves them.

I can foresee problems if they try and do one for James Hunt though... :rotfl:

After Austria, I fear a major coming together at Copse with Lando on the outside and Max in the inside. Then watching Horner justifying that it’s a corner open to overtaking and Lando was at fault for claiming the line was his……

Well, half the forum would change stance between 2021 and 2024 then. ;)

But that beautiful old-fashioned gold trophy would hurt someones feelings as it reminds people of 1800's colonialism. Or something. That's why we need trophies designed by robots that look like urban construction materials.

Much like with other prestigious motor races, the winner should get a baby version of this to keep.

Honestly though, if we are talking about whether penalties are severe enough or not after Austria I will start a campaign to black flag each and every driver who uses numbers instead of the real names.

Great to hear they've introduced more grass and gravel.

Track limits is a real problem here in wheel to wheel combat. The Leclerc - Perez - Lewis battle in 2022 has cars going off track at Stowe, Club and Village in the space of 30 seconds.

Regarding trophies of the past: they were a throwback to the Greek games, where the winner would get an amfora with expensive **** in it: wine, mirth or oil. Modern times have bastardized that idea by making the container the prize, not what it contained. In that respect the victory of form over content is complete with trophies that are both in form and function (you can't put anything in it) useless.

Tedious idiot is nearly killed after protesting on track.  A trick that the oil protestors tried to replicate the other year but fortunately for them foiled by a red flag for a nasty crash at the start.
Hamilton wins on three wheels! Such a shame for me that this was in covid times. Imagine the crowd screaming this one over the line!
Our Nige gives Ayrton a lift home.
Schumacher and the black flag Maddeningly, I can only find tiny snippets, by way of balance, of his masterful driving in 2002 here as balance, please feel free to post it if it's out there.
Alonso misses the bus because he drove an extra demo lap of Bernie's prized car, Ferrari's first to win a GP

There are so many more! Why not add them in the comments? as ever, do feel free to share trip reports and photos if you're going and I hope you have a great time!

Another great moment of the British GP was Williams maiden win in 1979, with Clay Regazzoni. An incredible feat for a team which had been at the back of the grid for ten years. Think Haas beating everybody else on pure speed in 2024.

1979-British-GP.jpg

That was the following race after the first win of a turbo engine in F1. A lot of things were happening at that time.

My uncle was a national MX champ, back in the laurel days, and as you’d do with awards, he kept them all. You should have seen the absolute state of his garage/workshop. The wreaths turn ugly REAL fast, and they do take up an awful lot of space, certainly more than trophies.

So, no :D.

Just like at the Red Bull Ring, the track has been widened a bit in some corners (i.e. the white line has been moved to reduce the distance between the track and the gravel). Those corners are Copse (T9), Maggotts (T11), Stowe (T15), the exit of the Vale chicane (T17).

25) Changes to the Circuit
• New drainage at Turn 1 LHS.
• Removal of combination kerb at Turn 3 on RHS.
• New drainage between Turn 5 and Turn 6 on LHS.
• New gravel bed at Turn 14 on LHS.
• New drainage between Turn 14 and Turn 15 on LHS.
• Gravel bed extended by approx. 6-8m towards the track at Turn 15 on LHS.
• Asphalt run-off reduced to 1.7m at Turn 16 on RHS, filled with gravel.
• Removal of combination kerb at Turn 16 on LHS, replaced with grass.
• Asphalt strip removed between Turn 18 and Turn 1 on LHS, replaced with grass.
• New tire barrier with conveyor belt in Turn 15 on RHS.
• New tire barrier with conveyor belt in Turn 16 run-off.
• The white line in Turn 9 on LHS has been moved further to the left to reduce the distance between the white line and the gravel to 1.5m.
• The white line in Turn 11 on LHS has been moved further to the left to reduce the distance between the white line and the gravel to 1.8m.
• The white line in Turn 15 on LHS has been moved further to the left to reduce the distance between the white line and the gravel to 1.5m.
• The white line in Turn 17 on LHS has been moved further to the left to reduce the distance between the white line and the gravel to 1.8m.
• Red kerb removed in Turn 11 on RHS.
• Red kerb removed in Turn 12 on RHS.
• Red kerb removed in Turn 13 on RHS.
• Red kerb removed in Turn 16 on LHS.
