Alpine
 is poised for a further shake-up of its Formula 1 operation, with Hitech F2 and F3 boss Oliver Oakes expected to become its new team principal.
With the French manufacturer squad undergoing huge change amid a push by new F1 advisor Flavio Briatore, it appears that no stone is being left unturned in its bid to get back to the front.

It’s that time of year again, usually around Spa!

And then a round of firing some more people.

Famin being out of the team before Ocon?

Yeah, I‘m enjoying this.

Please no, where does that leave Hitech? He is the founder and the owner.

It feels like the first step in the team becoming Hitech

They could show this comment on an earnings call. "All the cool kids say we're hi-tech"

Were Hitech not one of the rejected new team applicants alongside Andretti?

This puts the Mercedes PU deal into context, who have been close to Hitech for a few years now.

Hitech Alpine, powered by AMG Mercedes-Benz.

Sounds like a hi-tech, quality car (brand)    ;)

Interesting. His profile is similar to Christian Horner's when he became team principal. No doubt in my mind that's what Briatore sees.

Renault is stopping all their PU activities and replacing their TP with the CEO of a racing organization that aimed at F1?

Mmmmmmmh... definitely not suspicious at all.

Wasn't Famin always a temporary measure?

  • Alpine plans to enter the US market from 2027 with several models, including an electric A110 successor and two SUVs
  • Renault aims to turn Alpine into a global brand, with plans to have 50% of its sales volume outside Europe by 2030
  • New electric platform: The brand is developing its own electric platform called APP (Alpine Performance Platform) for future all-electric models

How does that read to you? which series makes sense? and why do they need an ICE factory?

I knew the name was familiar. I vaguely remember him as a junior driver.

A pretty decent F3 driver, actually. So another Horner parallel.

Been following Oli since his time in karting - he’s highly regarded across the junior series. A very exciting hire imo

Definitely has Horner vibes. Young guy. Solid CV. Onwards and upwards!

Would prefer he swipes Lawson over Doohan though.

I think they swapped Russian chemical money with Kazakh mining money. I certainly wonder what kind of sponsors will arrive with Oakes.

@ChrisMedlandF1

Bruno Famin confirms he is going to step down as Alpine team principal by the end of August, and focus solely on his VP of motorsport role #F1

@ChrisMedlandF1

Oliver Oakes is one name that has been linked with the Alpine team principal position.

Something in the water at Spa, as it was here last year that Otmar Szafnauer left as team principal and Famin took over the position on what was originally an interim basis #F1

I actually think across F2 and F3 Doohan has been the more impressive of the two - would love to see him get a chance.
